Based off last few month's club form barkley was bottom of pile and with good reason, ali was dreadful and should of been took off first 11 after Russia, but that is what happens when you have a clueless manager
Yes. No doubt Barkley's club form for last few months of the season scuppered his chances. No dispute there. And it was clear very early in the tournament he wouldn't be figuring. But in desperation he could have been thrown on for 10 mins just to have a run at Iceland. I'm not bothered he wasn't, more that the England manager didn't have a clue how to try and change the flow of the game.
Ross needs to get his head down and work hard on his fitness. Get that right and we may see that talent come through again.

The turning point for me turning my back on England. The second Wilshire came on last night was it.

For years i've laughed off and excused England picking players for various reasons, but I can't anymore. I can't 'support' a team that does this.

It's not even just Roy. It's the FA as a whole.

I'd like to apologise to everyone i've spoken to about England in the past. You were all right.

Ross Barkley became England's best player last night. Without even kicking a ball.
It's always been the FA.

Gang. Of. Clowns.

BARKLEY ACCUSED OF HAVING 'NO FOOTBALL BRAIN' AFTER ENGLAND'S EURO 2016 EXIT

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore claims coaches have told him that the Everton midfielder lacks the tactical ability to be a world-class player

Former England striker Stan Collymore claims that coaches who have worked with Ross Barkley believe that the midfielder does not have a ‘football brain’.

The 22-year-old didn’t play a single minute of England’s failed Euro 2016 campaign as Roy Hodgson’s side crashed out following a 2-1 defeat to Iceland on Monday evening.

Barkley’s career was accused of becoming stagnant under Roberto Martinez at Everton, but Collymore suggests that the midfielder’s tactical nous isn’t good enough at the highest level
.

“I’ve heard from coaches who’ve worked with him for a number of years at all levels that he’s got talent but no football brain that can adapt to differing situations on the pitch,” Collymore wrote in his column for
Boylesports

“In other words it’s all off-the-cuff and when that doesn’t work then he becomes a liability. Damning, but perhaps true that while [Raheem] Sterling and [Jack] Wilshere were getting games despite poor fitness and form Barkley wasn’t doing enough in training to depose them.

“That should work the lad, so let’s hope Ronald Koeman is the man to make his the talent and football mind that we all expect
.”

Ross two years ago I would agree, but he's added decision making this season. He's got a lot more to learn but to say that is just mental....

Stanley is a tad mental though
