Ross Barkley

I dont know about that.

Look at it this way: Stones was sold, and it looks odds on Lukaku is being sold. Can you imagine what it would look like if we lost all three of Stones, Lukaku and Barkley in 12 months since Moshiri tipped up and stated he'd retain all our star players and that it was a priority to keep them?

He'd look daft and another bit of trust in this organisation would fly out the window along with a lot of prestige losing such players.

why would Moshiri look daft? he's not selling these players to balance the books. If the players want out then the players want out? Did Utd look daft when Ronaldo wanted out? The rs have lost their top players for years but they don't look daft because of it.

What did Stones do that made us look small time because we sold him for 50m? How is it Moshiris fault if Lukaku gets sold but we pocket 80m? If Ross wants to leave should we tie him to a goalpost?

What exactly have these players won with us which makes them above Everton Football Club? That answer you can fit on the back of a stamp in case you struggle with that one mate.

How can they sell him if he doesn't want to go?

Niasse did not want to move you see.

There's no way the club will let Barkley goes as a Bosman transfer and done nothing...he will be sold if he is not signing a new contract. There will be consensus from both parties.

PS: I don't rate Stones that highly. I prefer defender who can defend properly. Good deal to sell him to Citch too.

so let's say if utd pay the likes of Valencia or Ashley Young 100k/120k do you think we should be looking for those type of bang average players and paying them that because utd are? Or if there's a top young talent in the championship who is currently on 2k a week should we offer him 100k a week because then that will show our players that we mean business?

If Harry Kane is on 90k a week, if we offer him 120k a week will he leave Spurs and come to us?

There's offering wages to be competitive and then there's offering wages and not being sensible. The rs have mastered this for years and it's not a road I want to see us go down.

Unfortunately, with odd exceptions, there seems to be a correlation between wage bill and league position.

wage bill is massive when you are buying the top top players, the likes of Hazard, Costa or an Aguero, Silva and that's why these sides challenge for the top position. If your a top bracket player who wins your clubs titles, trophies you can command through big wages..

Last time I checked none of our players have pulled their finger out when it mattered most to win us a trophy, therefore their wages should be reflective of that.

You really have no idea of how football clubs , players and agents work have you.
If ROSS is determined to go he will go
If the club want him sold he will be sold.
Doesn't work that way.

Do you think he'd be the first high profile player to run down their contract and walk with nothing left on it?

Doesnt happen any more
Clubs are too cute nowadays
Name the last high profile player that walked away on a free
Beharino was an exception as that chap has a lot of mental and attitude issues plus no one really wanted him in the end

Rarely happens dave. You said high profile player not A. Kone or Alcaraz. The club will find a way to sell a player.

if I was Ross I'd be thinking if my home town club were willing to offer me 100k a week or anything remotely near that I'll sign as soon as someone hands over a pen.

If Everton offer 160k a week for a full back then more fool them. You mentioned the rs paying Lallana 150k and Ross should be on comparable wages but like I said before, don't use the rs as a yardstick of what to do wages wise because if someone like Lallana was on more than 60k a week at our club there would be bloody riots.

Only because other clubs are stupid enough to do it, doesn't mean we should follow suit.

Either players sign on the dotted line and show their commitment or they can koff and I don't care who they are and how good they are. You need a squad, a squad of committed, hungry players with sprinkles of talent and not all of them need to be on 100k a week or more to get to that level.
A lot of what you say is correct but remember the situation we are now in.

We have left it late for whatever reason no idea why assume the club didn't think he was worth it & he has been abused more than any other Everton player in living memory.

Even now there are people saying sell him for Christ sake.

If we offered him a new contract 18 months ago when he was in the sky half season best team & playing very very well remember he was put in by carragher & Neville/Henry over payet then he would have signed the same day.

We havent covered ourselves in glory here & yes Ross has some accountability but ffs we have the sun today calling him
A thick gorilla & our own ex players wrongly saying he hasn't improved since he was 18.

We need to support him back him stick up for him fight for him as for months now he has been for us.

He is not a high profile player anyway.

We should buy better players then. It's as simple and as difficult as that.
A better player than Ross= big transfer fee and wages to match.
