Ross Barkley

I can't believe the level of hate going around for him today to be honest, he was no worse than anyone else on the pitch today, arguably better than some considering he was hung out to dry In a bad system against a outnumbered midfield.

His decision making was atrocious and his tackles were just staggeringly bad. Kicking lumps out of players doesn't show passion, it shows stupidity. Take your anger out on the ball.

He has been very good lately so is allowed an off day (he certainly wasn't the only one) what worries me is we seem to be breeding a new generation of players who bottle it in big games so the cycle continues.

Fair doos, I've given a lot of stick his way as have others, but it is down to him being our lord and saviour and pretty much our only creative outlet. We needed his best today and he was instead very lucky to even be on the pitch, it's frustrating.

So you would not swap Barkley for Coutinho or Eriksen?

Coutinho last season shone in big games. Man U in Europa League, Dortmund in same competition, assist in the final. He was aged 23 (as Barkley is now) doing all this. He is also always major torn fproblem for Man City.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has 20 goals and assist this season for relegation battling Swansea, you think he is good as Coutinho or Eriksen?

Alli is just 20 and is where we all thought Barkley would be.
No i wouldnt
Like I mentioned they are both slightly older and had more games.

Coutinho wasn't great in both finals and Liverpool finished 8. i certainly don't think he was fantastic. Also why isn't he up there smashing the goals and assists column.
Eriksen must have 7 yrs off top flight football under his belt. And is now starting to show he's a top class player. But was very inconsistent in his 1st couple of yrs at Spurs.

Look at mahrez he looked a world beater last year and better than both coutinho & Eriksen. And he's was at the top of the goals and assists column. But this year he hasn't been as good. But Leicester struggling obviously hasn't helped. And this season before the manager was sacked he was changing the team and formations.

Now them 2 points bring me on to Barkley and Ali.
Ali for 2 yrs like Eriksen has virtually played in the same team every week, for a team challenging for the title.

Barkley for 3 yrs has played in different positions, with different formations. With how many different players around him god only knows. And for 2yrs under a clueless manager. Bit like mahrez this season.

Ali is a great player, but let's not just brush under carpet (like the media did) his Euro 16 performances or his European performances for Spurs this season.
This season Barkley has more passes than Ali. More key passes. More assists. Created more chances. And more take ons.
Ali only beats Barkley on goals

But you can see from this topic alone, even Everton fans do not know what his best position is.

I guess all we can do is wait and see how things go. Just to be clear, I think Barkley can be a good player for us, but won't be the player we will build the team around. If we get a good offer in the summer, I would sell.

Alli will end up at Real Madrid, and Coutinho will be at Barcelona in the next few seasons.

Absolutely no chance alli will go to Real Madrid. He is a cracking player but is Tim Cahill madrid dont by players who just score goals it's not enough in fact his goal record isn't enough either remember in the euros he gave the ball away once every 3 touches & last game for England his first ten touches resulted in losing the ball 5 times that is nowhere near a Real Madrid player. He would need to be far more dynamic on the ball.

Come on. Cahill was what, mid 20s when he joined us and only got to double figures once in the league. Alli is 20 and has done this in both of his seasons. He has 17/18 goals in all competitions this season, I might be wrong but Cahill never got this amount.

Alli is an incredible talent. If ball retention is his biggest problem...well...

If Alli went to Madrid and James Rodriguez went to Spurs. Spurs would win trophies unlike now...

It's because he's always in the game, trying to get on the ball, make things happen that we always see him, whether the team's doing well or not. Brilliant player, only think he will be appreciated if he left the club, which would be a massive loss to us.

What in the blue hell are key passes and "take ons"? Stats are nonsense in a game like football!

Loses his head in the Derby second dodgy challenge he's put in.Probably too wound up to do well.He tried his best but we were pants.

I said before the game, in order to win we needed our Rossley, Lukaku, Mirallas ( was very surprised he wasn't picked ) to be right at it. Unfortunately most of our players were woeful. Our players who have it in them to make a difference didn't....again.

woeful challenge on Lovren, ain't condoning that.

He's been in real good form and today was piss poor and hurts more because it's such an important game. Hopefully he's back at it Tuesday
