Ross Barkley

I just hope he regains that form quickly as he looked lost yesterday
He wasn't the only one however and as I mentioned in another post yesterday, he's far more effective with a strong midfield behind him.

Without Schneiderlin yesterday and Gana looking lost he had to worry more about defensive duties and having players closing him down quickly.

It's of course not entirely excusing him for his performance yesterday, however I feel it has to be viewed in the whole context of the game.

The worry is that he's not quite good enough for a side challenging the top 4.

The bigger worry is that the same could be said for the entire squad - 2/3 players aside (and that is being generous)

Barkley was rank yesterday, back to his end of Martinez era form, i am not slagging him off btw, he certainly wasnt alone! Where i get disappointed with him is thta he lost the ball so many times, gave it away more than once and didnt chase after it? I know that isnt his style normally, but he is a blue and this was a Derby match! Davies hould never have come off before Barkley imo, i thought he was the only one trying, the only one who looked like he was an Evertonian!

Only positive from yesterday is that a lot of teams who were interested in ROSS and Rom won't bother coming back with bids.

ROSS never seems to fully turn up in the big games ,same with Rom , so hopefully Chelsea United Spurs etc won't bother coming back.

Sell him on June 1st if anyone is daft enough to bid.

Or help the lad out and surround him with better players than Lewin? I feel a lot of sympathy with Barkley. Too often in these games our tactics of give him the ball and beat 4 men kill any chance of him playing well.

His tackles, watching them back again, were absolutely horrendous... even a little worse than I thought... any of you condoning them should give up because it wasn't far off what happened to coleman, and that is not sound

I think next season, if Ross stays, we need to pair him with a proven PL player.

If we can get Morgan and gana working behind Ross and gylfi sig that would be a tough midfield to match.

Best case scenario is Swansea go down and we can get him for £30 mil.

The amount of chances he creates might also convince Rom to stay also.

Shades of Gazza when the emotion gets to him.

Additionally he got slated for not putting a tackle in and stuck in previous Derby's or seasons

Previous seasons yes, because he wasn't making a tackle at all, in any game, so it wasn't really about the derby.

This year in the first derby he could've snapped henderson, and yesterday lovren... very very lucky, if it had been a lpool player on barkley I guarantee this forum would have exploded!
