There's a definitely an agenda going on and a game being played here.

It's exactly the same Barkley stuff from a few weeks ago, that was laughed off and dismissed a few weeks ago.

Somebody somewhere is giving these journos encouragement to print this nonsense. Saw all this with Rooney - the drip drip drip speculation every few weeks.

The Daily Star has a load of crap in it about City offering us Milner and cash - just to show you how much nonsense is getting spouted, Milner is out of contract at the end of the season and wouldn't command a fee.

City aren't going to pay £50m for Barkley as it will legitimately swallow up their entire FFP-approved transfer funds for the summer. If they break that, they'll get punished by UEFA again. This basic fact keeps getting ignored by every tabloid story about Barkley.

It's all utter nonsense that simply isn't going to happen, but it clearly sells newspapers.
