Rooney wanted to play in hibbo game

you`d have to be a kopite to boo rooney if he played here. those bell-whiffs hate him with a passion, and for what? being ace and an evertonian is the reason

Once a blue always a blue?hmmm thinking of someone like Cahill and then Rooney,do one Wayne, you had your chance to live out the dream of thousands of us and turned your back!!!

Anybody who hates an 18 year old lad for moving to one of the most successful clubs in world football after having his agent in his ear and knowing the club were prepared to sell him is being a belter.

What about kissing the UTD badge on Ballys day then know all?

That was terrible and turned alot against him... However he does seem to be trying to make amends a little!

Regardless I'd have him back in a shot now! I definitely think he's got unfinished business here!

I'd have loved to have him playing tonight but sadly there are other commitments which have stopped it. He moved too soon in my opinion but his motives can be justified to an extent.

Got a bit of stick on Twitter when it came out last night for not playing which is slightly unfair on the lad for 3 reasons, he asked Hibbo could he play but with only a day between this and playing Barca play in Gothenburg so he could hardly turn down playing against Messi and Co.

Secondly without Rooney leaving at the point that he did, he basically saved the club. Maybe see him in a blue shirt again at the end of his current contract, who knows??

Christ, I made mistakes as a petulent teenager - BIG mistakes. Not quite as headline grabbing as Wayne kissing any badges, but probably 10 times worse in the grand scheme of things (mine were outside of a football pitch for a start).

But with added years comes maturity, and Wayne has matured (well, at least in part!) now and has in all probability seen the error of his youthful judgement (or lack of).

He's trying to make amends, and wanting to be a part of Hibbert's big night is a gesture - just like when he came back for Moyes' 10 year anniversary. He has to be careful what he says in order not to [Poor language removed] the Utd fans, obviously, but I bet if you could ask him candidly what he wanted he would say a return to Everton.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

Kop end. Arms outstretched. Not that we'd see it til I got home, as we'd be going all over the place celebrating. But just thin of that image......as Partridge would say, "lovely stuff".

Firstly the badge kissing really hit me and a lot of others, I think because we saw him as one of us and we could really identify with him and to watch him mock us wasn't easy to take . It certainly contrasted with the likes of Cahill (taking dogs abuse from the millwall fans) declined to even celebrate when he scored agains them. It wasn't an isolated incident either , but that said its obvious he's trying to move on , he seems to have grown up and is certainly making the effort to build bridges and more than that it actually seems genuine , with him trying to watch us and talking of is son being a blue. Both Rooney and us as blues seem to be moving forward and that's a good thing . what happened upset me as frankly I felt a bit let down but it certainly seems clear the relationship is Changing and I'm glad , sometimes when you split up with someone there's a bit of nastiness, childish behaviour and anger but in the end it goes and you get to a level where you realise you've been stupid to waste energy on it and move on , ou can forgive but you should never forget .

I understand this perception but I think it really doesn't stand up. Rooney and his family had had an agent (Peter McIntosh ) for years and the fella considered himself a family friend . It was Rooney and the Rooneys that were speaking to Stretford behind his agents back (this isn't speculation it's fact and came out in court) , other people (known to me) were ringing Peter Mac and telling I'm what was going on and that the talks were taking place because the player and his family didn't think the previous agent was big enough to handle the inevitable moves to united who were interested. The agents ringing McIntosh weren't doing it to be nice they were doing it because they wanted him to bring Rooney to them as he family had their heart set on a move but the agent wouldn't believe his 'friends' would do it to him , he was wrong and was discarded missing out on a payday after having npbeen with the family for years. It wasn't Stretford telling Rooney to go to united ,it was the Rooneys speaking to Stretford because they wanted the united move. I'll never forget Rooney asked who is biggest influences were not even a year after going to United he said his family, ferguson and Stretford, the person that hurt the most was Colin harvey who had been coaching/helping/supporting the player for years. Rooney going may have saved the club financially , it may have been a 'brilliant' move for Rooney and made Stretford a fortune but the Rooneys knew what they were doing and nobody pushed them into the move they were the ones doing all the running.

i'm inclined to think like jock but then i just remember "once a blue, always a blue". infuriates me, i'd never leave everton for anyone in the world and i would expect the same of every evertonian. at least he only left us to achieve success instead of money. would like to see him come back at the end of his current contract though anf give us about 5 or 6 years good service

Not even if someone offered you £20 million quid and the chance to win everything available in football, cause I'm not sure about that!
The fact that despite all the crap that has been thrown his way from the Goodison terraces, both literally and physically, he is still an Evertonian.
This article is just further proof, going to watch us at wembley, the OS interviews and his first born being suckered into a life of desperation and regret.
He's one of us, it's just a shame that he gets paid by one of our competitors/enemies.
I look at it this way, at least he didn't go to the S###e
He'll be back, of that I am certain, I just hope he's not old and fat, sadly, like me.

Also, the "Once a blue, always a Blue" is quite possibly the worst thing he could of done in an Everton shirt cause it's been used as a stick to beat him with ever since.
I made some choices when I was 15 that I thought were a good idea at the time which turned out not to be (pass the bong). But I've never had it held over me for Ten years.

People saying they would like to see him back at the end of his current contract, do you really think Utd are going to let his contract run down and let him go? No chance. If we want him back permanently we will have to pay. Hence why I think, which I've said in another thread, I can see him moving to China or America for his last mega contract and possibly coming back here on loan, maybe for a season, maybe like Donovan.

If you think about they won't have the choice if it's what the really wants to do. What could United do? Force him to sign for a Chinese club at gun point?

I'd love to see him back.
He was 18, spoilt and a bit of a [Poor language removed]. He's not the first footballer to have his head turned with all the money involved.
Once a Blue, Always a Blue - isn't he still a Blue? granted one playing for Utd.

Let's put it this way, you have a job you love, at a place you really enjoy working, and someone offers you 3 times more to go and do the same job with them.....and you'll get to do some amazing jobs that you wouldn't have chance at your current place of work.....can anyone here say that they wouldn't go?

18 and being a stubborn scouse [Poor language removed], and you're getting abuse of people, what do you do? take it, or give some back? He's made some stupid spur of the moment decisions, who hasn't? He's upset some people, again, who hasn't? Every single one of them has been magnified.
