i'm inclined to think like jock but then i just remember "once a blue, always a blue". infuriates me, i'd never leave everton for anyone in the world and i would expect the same of every evertonian. at least he only left us to achieve success instead of money. would like to see him come back at the end of his current contract though anf give us about 5 or 6 years good service

To be fair mate, if you think about the state the club was in financially and the team we were going tits up, finished 17th and would've gone down if he'd have stayed, his money saved us and got us the likes of cahill arteta in and look where we are now, everyone needs to get off his back and look at the bigger picture

I'm more with your way of thinking than I used to be mate. But that Once A Blue Always A Blue, it's petty, I just can't let it go, I love watching him play, I'll love having him back if it happens, but it'll just not quite be the same.

yeah i know, but i doubt that was his feeling when he left. obviously greatful for it and would respect it very much if that were his intention, i just dont feel it was. dont hate the guy like i use to, he moved for his career and he always gives 110% everytime he pulls on a football shirt, there are so much worse out there than him. i would still play for everton if they got relegated to the non-league and i was the best player in the world.

Him coming back would take the attention away from Hibbo.

This.

Once a blue, always a blue. Yeah, he left in a bad manner, but he saved our club, thankfully to his transfer fee. And more importantly, he is still a blue. And I am sure he will come back to us one day. And I will gladly see him in our jersey again.

Anybody who hates an 18 year old lad for moving to one of the most successful clubs in world football after having his agent in his ear and knowing the club were prepared to sell him is being a belter.

The lad didnt help him self when he left with comments and celebrations towards the fans and the whole '1 club' pointing to the badge bollocks, but what do you expect? He was still only a kid really and hadn't grown up and matured like he has now which everyone can see, when he wasn't mature he was getting so much **** from blues it was unbelievable, feel for the lad but as I say he didn't help him self! Whatever anyone thinks he'll be back, whether it be in 3/4 years when his contracts up or sooner if a miracle happens and we get investment. But he's the player we all want, someone who'll fight for the team and the fans and show passion no matter what, oh, an he'd ****ing love a derby, he's got a cracking little record against the ****e for united.

Wayne Rooney left Everton for Wayne Rooney... He didn't leave to save the club, that was a afterthought!
Do I blame him for leaving? No I don't but he could of done it with a bit more respect and dignity... But at 18 how many have the maturity to act with those qualities.

If Wayne Rooney had come through are ranks in more recent times.. Say with Rodwell, I don't think he would of ever left, I truly believe that! We'd also have a trophy on the shelf!

I'm sure he will back one day. Think his current deal runs till about 2015 which would make him 29 which could give us a few good years.

My one doubt is fergie's impending retirement. I think he's got 1 year.. 2 years tops left in him. I wouldn't be surprised to see fergie go after this season if he won the league again.. And if his replacement is guardiola I can see Rooney wanting to be a major part of that..
