He inherited a squad of ageing dogs and turned them into football players for a record breaking season - before they decided they didn't feel like playing football anymore and went back to the Gaelic football Moyes taught them.

I seem to remember them jibbing it off as soon as it was clear Moyes was off to pastures new, with seemingly more and more tired and formulaic performances in the last 2-3 seasons of Moyes. I'm probably wrong though! I normally am.

Martinez did get them playing for 3/4 season - if only he could have kept that up...

Back onto Koeman, I almost miss him now we've been Sammed for a few months.

I think keeping stones was his big mistake. He could have taken the money and rebuilt the squad.
I also think he made a mistake to keep Baines.
Both cases the money would have been better and its not good to hold back the careers of those players.

Weird. Two managers in a row who had us play some of the worst football I've seen (prior to Allardyce), get sacked, then get the top job for an international team.
Why? Do the various FA's have a checkbox that says "Failed at Everton"?
I wouldn't be surprised if Allardyce got one.

It was pretty much a team at or just past peak. Adding Lukaku made a big difference, and I think the results would have been as good or better with Moyes in charge that season
