Ronald Koeman watch

Big favourite to be offered the national job. In a poll 85% of dutch fans want him in, from their perspective his rep hasn't taken a tanking after his time with us. Funnily enough he'd be a local rival to his predecessor, Roberto Martinez at Belgium. Holland vs Belgium is akin to your England vs Wales.

Rivalry cooled down a lot in recent years tbf. The last one they couldn't even fill the stadium and all the Belgian players weren't bothered. Far cry from when Staelens (rightly) called Kluivert a rapist and got him a red card.

The big one is Holland-Germany, the arch-rival.

Wow mate Kluivert a rapist. The first i head of that. But i looked it up, and it apparently happened just before he left Ajax for Ac Milan.Of course he does deny it.But between that and killing someone while joyriding around Amsterdam. It's sad when someone you once respect, turns out to be a deplorable excuse for a human being.

Yes seriously unlikeable person. Bergkamp is normal and friendly, and a better footballer.

I don't dislike him, it just didn't work out and so we all move on. Made some good decisions whilst he was here (binning off a load of crap) but ultimately he made too many bad ones that ended up costing him. Couldn't really care what he does in the future whether his career plummets like Moyes or he lands on his feet like Martinez. He'll be remembered in years to come I think with indifference more than anything, same way he seems to be remembered at almost every club he's managed.

There was problems with Koeman. But did we sack him too soon?We didn't have a replacement lined up, and we have been way worse, this past month under Unsy sadly.
Yeah the board were 50% decisive which is usually the very worst of both worlds - half in half out. He didn't give the board much choice but to swing the axe, no one could say it was preemptive or rushed given the footballing atrocity he was serving up week in week out. But having done that, to sit back and rely on Unsworth to get things turned around was a pipedream, made things far worse than just keeping Koeman.

Worst thing about it is that it puts the new manager at Defcon 1 as soon as they walk though the door. Massive increase in pressure - if we were peripheral relegation candidates before, it's now an unequivocal, divebomb trajectory to the championship that he has to pull us out of.
