There was optimism but partly due to the takeover. I don't remember anyone being excited by either like.

this time it would probably be £500 million, a clone of Messi at 18 and a promise to write YNWA instead of mes que un club in the camp nou seating, and they'd loan both back for the remainder of their careers

That Barca team should be producing more considering the front 3 they have. All depends how many stay of course but almost any team they put out will cake walk to 3rd in the league, they still have massive pull to bring in decent players. Rebuilding here and there is two completely different jobs, although ultimately if you don't win the league or the CL it could be curtains. I don't see him doing badly, whether it's enough is to be seen.

Their squad isn't good enough is essentially what I mean. It'll take a good deal of effort to get there as well. I can't see Koeman getting it right.

Doubt there are that many Barca fans imagining this.

Koeman's rep as a manager over there is, remarkably, even worse than it is here thanks to his spell at Valencia which was historically terrible. Suffice to say that in less than a year he took a side that had David Silva, David Villa, Juan Mata, Marchena, Banega, Albiol and others and would have relegated them if he hadn't been sacked.

This appointment is insanity. They'd have done less damage if they appointed a bloke whose only claim to fame is that he used to steal Messi's mums underwear off a washing line.

For her age she is a proper sort but unfortunately she recently had the garden wall made even higher
