Koeman i
If that is indeed the case then it smacks of bad management to me.
If those players "know" they are going to be punted then it is little wonder they are de-motivated.
Was a time a new manager would have told every player he had a clean slate and needed to prove to him he was worth keeping.
But if Koeman has made it clear to certain players they have no future here then that goes some way to explaining the passionless performances we have been seeing.
The trick is keeping them interested and motivated even if they don't figure in your Long or even medium term plans.
Then punt them.
You are partly right Khal, but don't forget what Barry said about this squad.
'The standards of the players were, for me, slightly slipping last season, on and off the pitch,' said Barry. 'If standards are slipping off the pitch it can impact on your form on the pitch and the whole team was losing that level that is expected to compete at the top end of the Premier League.
'It was things like time-keeping, dress codes, training; everything, really. The manager (Koeman) doesn't want to come across as some sort of headmaster but he has been quite keen to let anybody know if they go underneath the standards expected. That is good for everyone'.
The only one that left was Stones. We need a root and branch clear out before it is too late. For me Baines, Jags, Barkley and Lukaku need a time on the sidelines.
