I think that's a balanced team to be honest. Lacking pace up front big time but I can see why he's set them up like that.

It can't be worse than the last performance...

Can it?...
 
For me this is the worst part of the recent season's, Martinez had such a good foundation but killed it, the job Koeman has been asked to do is massive but he has had the backing.
The budget was there to build a good team but we seemed to go out and buy a load of decent players but with no thought about how they were going to work together

Agreed mate. Only thing I'd say is the board don't appear to have backed him in terms of a striker, which he did say publicly we needed. Then again, even that wouldn't fix how disjointed we look as a team.

While there may be some element of truth in this, it's naive to solely blame the board and the lack of a striker for our recent failings on the pitch.

He also knew that Rom was off and clearly we prioritised the acquisition of other targets over a striker, or felt overly confident that we'd get one.

He's the manager (not a head coach like Conte et al.) and regardless of other individuals responsibilities, he should shoulder some of the blame.
