Ronald Koeman discussion

I personally thought there was no hope with Martinez. The bloke had zero pragmatism and from what I could tell absolutely no control over the dressing room. The writing was on the wall for him.

I don't really see it as negative football - it's just terrible football right now. There's issues all over the pitch but as I've stated time and time again, I always expected that given the turnover in playing staff. Hopefully in a couple months we can look back at this poor start and put it in perspective. Difficult games, new players etc.

Good post. I'm struggling to see the strategy at the minute though , there's no apparent structure to this side, it's like a jumbled mess of decent footballers.

We play with a system that exposes the full backs and causes pandemonium with the defenders. Rooney is playing left back cover half the game and is the too tired to get up the pitch when we have possession.

We play slow possession based football which leads to nowhere

There is no urgency on the ball in possession to get forward

Instead of whipping crosses in first time we play it backwards

Kenny should be given the chance to play right back

We need to change the system to include pace with actual wingers like lookman and mirallas

We don't need to start Rooney in every match

Gueye should never be dropped

Davies needs to be given more first team opportunities one of the shining beacons of last season

As it stands the way we play is so predictable, slow and boring to watch

What are we doing in training? The whole system needs a rejig

I agree with this but that's more a reflection of us having mediocre players in those positions. The Baines of days gone by and Coleman aren't in the team right now so we probably need to adopt a system that compensates for how susceptible we are in this area.

I remember when Moyes stumbled into the fact Fellaini and Cahill could actually forge a decent strike partnership. Koeman likely needs to be as fortunate to solve this problem until Christmas.

Unbalanced, no runners in behind .. no skill full players beating a man = easy to defend against

Too unbalanced

Also fullbacks are so important in today's game and ours are gash. I love Baines but he has been treading water for 2 years now . We need energetic attacking fullbacks

The good news is that at least one senior player has already made representations to the Board about dissatisfaction with Koeman. In the past Kenright has been the one to keep the manager in post when everyone else has wanted him gone. But even Kenright doesn't like Koeman, so his days are numbered.

What player is this? And how do you know bill spent like Ronnie?

Who would be a realistic replacement if he were to be sacked? Unsworth? I would love unsy to be our manager but I would also want him to be good enough ... so who would be good enough and available ?

3 lose and cant have a goal...and will have 4 lose probably...We need time to gel?
Yes, but it is obviously not the main factor.
Wrong tactics, play 3 back and play no widely...
Do you see Ac millan to have this poor performance?

352 it's the only formation with our inability to defend or get width. We were less [Poor language removed] when we switched to it even though Atalanta had taken their foot off the gas. Also rocket the players too many seem not arsed, drop them. Pickford Kenny Holgate Keane Williams Baines Gana Davies Rooney DCL Sandro
Play that over and over. Stop messing with it keep the system. If a player isn't arsed drop them. Morgan looks way off the pace, Gylfi looks off colour bench them!

Take a look at these, absolutely atrocious. So easy to beat us just by overloading the flanks because the wingbacks are exposed and have no-one in front of them. Likewise there is a huge overload in midfield in our favour but we could barely string a pass together there? Puzzling stuff.

Majority of our passes came from around this "back 2" and the wingbacks before aimlessly launching it forward to DCL.

Dire this Neiz. Looking like Martinez again but without the attacking threat, they sometimes posed.

Marco Silva's going to sort us though.
