I'd pay what we paid for Lukaku back in 2014 if he wanted to be back in blue in January. Funny thing is, even factoring in the two purchases, we'd still be in profit for the price we sold him to Man U for last year lol
It would be like Franny Jeffers all over again. Selling a player to a supposed top side who would turn his goalscoring talents into another level - who fails under the expectation and comes back with tail between legs mentally beaten and a waste of a supposed cut down fee and wages.
He's done as far as top level is concerned.
I've always said he is the perfect super sub. 20 minutes to work hard and get some sprints in against tired legs. No one would have paid his wages/fee and suffered his sulking to do that.
I'm not sure he could even do that now. He needs to lose weight, get fit, focused and probably go on loan to a palace or Brighton where the expectation won't weigh too heavy.
He's set for life with his last two contracts and transfers. He just needs to play football and find his level and accept that is his level.
He will look back at his time at Everton and kick himself that he didn't give us more consistent effort, respect and actually tried to absorb our culture and history.... he was too busy looking elsewhere.
