It's interesting to see all the same arguments and counter arguments resurface, that existed during his time at Everton.

"He doesn't do it when it matters" vs. "he's starved of service" etc. It hasn't differed even now that he's got the likes of Mata and Pogba behind him. Whether you think it's right or wrong, I think it's clear most fans expect their strikers to be more than just goalscorers in the modern game
I have the odd look through his thread on Red Cafe, and it's a mirror image of what went on here.

Sticking to my prediction that he'll end up in Turkey before long.

It's almost as if the service was never the problem, isn't it?

But no, that can't be it...

He was bad today obviously (because he played and didn't score; that basically means he's done nothing nine times out of ten) but credit where credit is due for winning that corner from doing something that is usually alien to him - chasing a lost cause.

... I mean it wasn't a corner and it was a clear foul, but still, he was there to make it all happen.

Should get a retrospective three match ban for that lash out too. But won't happen because it's United.

I was watching that game on NBC and after the game the pundit in the studio (Robbie Mustoe or Robbie Earl) reckoned they'd spoke to *eurgh* Mark Clattenburg about it and he reckoned it should have been a foul for Brighton and a yellow card for Lukaku.

Presumably for attempting to kick or kicking an opponent in a reckless manner, which comes under unsporting conduct. Reckless being "Reckless is when a player acts with disregard to the danger to, or consequences for, an opponent and must be cautioned"

As opposed to a red for violent conduct for using excessive force, which is defined as "Using excessive force is when a player exceeds the necessary use of force and/or endangers the safety of an opponent and must be sent off".

Other than Clattenburg being a complete tit i really cant see how attempting to kick an opponent twice when not challenging for the ball can only be reckless rather than excessive.

So yeah, he should face retrospective action for that.

He's got power and he's quick. He'll always be a handful but his touch is terrible. I think Utd made a mistake in buying him, but not as big a mistake as Everton in not replacing him
Lukaku should watch and learn from the performance of morata at the pit. He too was starved of possession and chances for long periods of the game, but his excellent movement repeatedly pulled Liverpool's defenders out of position (admittedly that's not hard). He doesn't possess the same pace or power of lukaku, but he is light years ahead of him in terms of being a footballer.

That last line I was going to write in my post comparing Niasse and Lukaku :)
