I agree, he was looking the only positive in the the team Pre January - Pre annual rodwell injury!

He will come good... Maybe not a world beater... But will come good. He just has to stay fit!

He's still only 21 ffs. I love how fans turn on there own and want rid for the cash...yet if the player wants out for the cash or bigger things he's the devil!!

Such fickle things us football fans ha..

We get all need a Judas per season. It's what we live for

For me all he needs to be a very good midfielder is get his tackles in early and stop trying to Jockey. The one game he did he looked a beast.

His physique and athleticism will do the rest as will him maturing and being more confident.

My only fear is that he may be too nice. I'm just hoping he was a bit overawed as boys playing with men usually are.

I think a run in a more advanced position, like were Capello played him, might well bring that out of him, playing were he does now encourages him to be cautious, and even though they may well be were he ends up he getting the balance wrong atm.

Hes completely two footed, athletic and has good technique, you cant tell there isnt a good player in there.

Good post mate! Agree, he needs a bit more in his belly and clear run of games to get more cynical, expierenced and savy.

To me, if he was fit now, he'd more than likely be in the England squad maybe even starting in the euros.

Once lampard etc retire rodwell will become a sort after player IMO

In our formation that would be the 'Cahill' position. I just don't see him having the vision or eye for goal for it myself.

For me if it turns out he's not aggressive enough to play in midfield there is a potentially top class right back in them attributes.

Thanks, The things you mention can only come with time.

Rodwell can thank RoOney for the lack of patience in him IMO.

Yeah we'd need to tweak our formation to play him there so he's not alongside Jelevic, but breaking forward like, dare i say it, Gerraerd used to, if we had Pienaar and someone more in Donavans mould than Osmans, then that would be possible, with Gibbo holding and Fellaini also breaking forward when the opportunity permits, it might actually make us a more fluid side. I think we can all see how rigid we are with Cahill in the team.
