I still believe that Rodwell has the ability to step up but at the moment he hasn't done anywhere near enough to warrant a place in the England squad even if it only a friendly, i'd prefer Osman to be there to be honest more deserving of a place

What on earth has he done in the recent past to warrant an England call up?(then again Jordan Henderson?!!!)

I think the biggest surprise and the biggest fume from me is why Phil Neville isn't in the squad, I mean he gets ahead of Rodwell in Everton's midfield.

England won't hang on to that 3rd ranking place for long with this.

Rodders will walk into that England team in time for the world cup.

Said it many times. The force is strong with this one

Thanks for leaving out Cole, Gerrard and Rooney and calling up 3 of our players a few days before the start of the season Roy :dodgy:

Might just be the boost Jagielka & Rodwell need cause I honestly can't see either of them starting ahead of Heitinga or Gibson.

If Baines gets injured we're in royal **** as Moyes will stick Neville there instead of give Garbutt or Bidwell a chance to shine.

On a side note, what the [Poor language removed] are the FA playing at having a pointless friendly so close to the start of EPL.

I concur. I just cant see him being at us. He's one of those that if he stays with us he wont ever find his niche but if he goes to Utd or someone similar he will be the next Gerrard and we'll get patronising belters from the southern press mocking us and I'll explode.

Yup. Said it for a while.

Lad needs to be playing champos league by 25 or he won't reach his potential

To be fair, our preseason schedule has been rubbish so if they get a run out against some international class, it can only be a plus...if they don't get injured

This, Osman is twice the player Rodwell is. Rodwell has had potential, for how long now? 5 years?

I think the interesting thing is his performences for England, his game seems far open, creative and fluid. I think how we play him limits his natural attributes a lot.

It is just the boost that Rodwell in particular needed.
I think that there is too much being made of the piecemeal contribution from Rodwell in preseason.
He missed most of last season with the same injury,I believe that the plan this season is to bring him along slowly in the first half of the season and if he gets a long period injury free that he will be used more and more.
If he plays for England next week I expect it will be for a part of the game only in agreement with the Everton medical staff.
