I’m not really for tech intentionally deleting entire jobs, unless they’re going to give people universal basic incomes across the board as AI / Tech takes over more and more jobs. That said I’d feel safer with a driverless train than a driverless car, with the provision they still had someone on board who could take over / stop it if the AI started doing something wrongEven if the trains are driverless?
Isn't that the nature of the labour market though? It evolves. We don't expect people to operate our lifts for us or put our streetlights any more, but people seem to have managed to migrate into other roles.

I imagine a lot of car companies would be seriously concerned about the prospect of litigation (in the event of collisions/accidents etc.) to the point that we won’t see driverless cars becoming common place until the technology is near faultless.
Being able to drive on a fairly mundane highway is a whole different kettle to navigating a busy city street. It's not even close to doing the latter and won't be for some time imo.
