Might have been the only way we could have got the deal done. And if what ijjy say's is right, we've brought his fairly cheap and if they buy him back, we'll make a profit on him. No lose really.

True or not, one thing Atletico have never been short of is good goalkeepers. Unless he unseats Howard in his first season and becomes a regular in the national team, I think they won't be bothered exercising it.

Good to see him here anyways!

I highly doubt we would have accepted a buy back clause. I imagine its the only way athletico would have let us have him at such a price. Ultimately, we will make a bit on him anyway. Either way, consider what butland went for, and what ruddy might go for, it makes this seem an excellent deal.
 

What part of a buy-back-clause says the player has to agree to terms and go back ?

If his career progresses with us, then he may choose to reject a return.

Failing that we sell a keeper for 5m which isn't bad
