we had no chance vs united in 2009 though, imo, injuries were getting worse and they were arguably the best team in europe looking to clean up everything.

this is nowhere near that united team and we are a lot better than that everton team. anything can happen.
United played their stiffs in 2009

Just thought it more relevant to put this in here as opposed to the match thread, if that's okay.

after seeing the stats from that derby coupled with the last 3 or 4 games, nah . Not because i don't think he's good enough, but he's lost the players. They're just not performaing whatsoever, the first 2/3rds of our league season we were easily the better team, we just needed better organisation and to get rid of howard. But he clearly can't learn from his mistakes, i thought he was wiser.

Shame, but there we go. can we really sack him if he wins us the FA Cup? If he brings us that then i'll be back behind him a fair bit, he's done some good business in the windows, so i don't worry about that aspect.

I've always said, if he goes, at worst he'll set us up with a great platform and he really has. He'll make a very good manager in the future, but he needs some guidance in the right direction regarding defensive tactics.

I don't see the point in getting rid before the semi though - he is a guy who has won this before let's not forget. The players have given up in the league because they have nothing to play for - they're still vastly talented and will put a lot more effort in you'd hope. They owe it to martinez because regardless of how they feel about his methods, they've let him down massively lately and some of the blame should be pointed at them too.

Look at chelsea this season, there's too much player power in football these days - it has saddened me a bit with the way our players have given up to an extent over the last few league games.

Who knows whats happened but its odd since moshiri arrived and bar chelsea the players have not put the effort in.

It shows Martinez hasnt got the team behind him and that is the guillotine really. However i maintain that on paper he hasnt done badly and is only 2 or 3 places off where we should be based on wages and transfers.

Howard playing and not sorting LW have destroyed thw season. We could have been far higher this season if we had a decent keeper who didnt cost us 10pts.

Still, a change will come in the summer bar huge performances in the last few games.

Here's the deal since he's still here, I think:
1. Bad performance tomorrow, gone by Monday.
2. Win tomorrow, buys himself more time, likely will be allowed to see out to the final unless we lose all our remaining league games.
3. Win tomorrow, decent performances in league, win or lose the final - will still be gone in the summer.
4. We win everything from now on and climb to 8th in the league table and win the cup - still gone in the summer.

I really don't think he'll be here pre-season.

What will it take for him to be here next season in your opinion? Any chance?

Winning the FA Cup gives him no chance?
I really don't think so. It would depend on the majority of the fanbase saying "you know what, you might be on to something" and I don't see that happening. The club won't keep a manager over three quarters of the fans want gone.

the slightly bemusing thing is if we just move up to 10th we arguably had a better year this year than last. still not good enough obviously but if you offered me 10th and an FA cup win I would've been happy with that. That being said we still need to win 2 more games to get the cup so alot more to do.

Funny thing is if anyone said last year "Would you take 1 place behind Chelsea?", who would say no to that?
Whole season's been messed up, for everyone.

even arsenal are 3rd instead of 4th like wtf
