It's implying the team get things right.
They're not blameless this season I except, but you cannot ignore that they're playing his style of football and following his specific decisions.

The burden is not purely there's alone to fix... A work force is only as good as those who lead them or ions lead by donkeys and whatnot.

You may disagree and that's fine, yet personally the press conference for me was telling of what may be happening behind the scenes.

Expecting Baines and his peers to take all the blame and rectify all the problems is removing Martinez's own culpability, and as such his influence.

I'm not quite sure what Martinez is getting at, I don't see how Baines' words could be misinterpreted, I understood them completely and agreed with them 100%
He's saying that elements of the press will make a lot more of them than was meant. Which is actually what happened

A good manager-
  • Would utilise the squad to their current strengths. No square pegs in round holes
  • Adapt tactics to the opposition
  • Identify reasons for conceeding- setpieces, lack of fitness- address them
  • Build a solid defence before moving onto attack
  • Introduce youngsters stepwise, not blow hot air up their ass then blame their inexperience
  • Protect his team by taking responsibility not blaming everyone else
I can't even be arsed fuming at him any more though. Have a lovely Thursday everyone!

One things for sure, The eye of Saruman (the press) is pointed firmly at Bobby and he's gonna need results cause they smell blood.

But where are you getting this 'all the blame' from. My personal point of view is that things need to get better as a club. The manager is the one individual who usually takes full responsibility in terms of his job. But doesn't mean he's right or wrong about everything. Or that the players don't shoulder responsibility. And in some ways it needs pointing out more because they may feel sheltered from it

Very true. The heat is definitely on and we are in for some word class deflection and spin until the end of season.

Oh ok, I'm not from England so I wouldn't have seen the media's reaction to his words, but I know what the media is like in general so I can understand now, thanks. Still, i don't think anyone wonders why players give boring repetitive answers to the media. First bit of honesty from Baines and it gets blown out of proportion.

Lads can we keep the name calling of Martinez out of the conversation please. By all means disagree and comment on what he's said but he's still the Everton manager (and likely to be for some time) so that requires some respect.

It's also against the ethos of this place, "respectful and intelligent" as it says in the site rules.

Thanks

When Terry did the same about Mourinho, everyone condemned Terry.

Just another stick to bash the manager with for some.

No they didn't, I seem to remember the media absolutely eating Mourinho alive for daring to drop "still England's best centre half" Sir John George Terry

Chastising? Wow. He said he'd apologised and realised as a professional he has to choose how he says things more carefully.
There is no sign that he then caned him or even sent him home with no supper

He said what everyone connected with Everton thinks. The players look clueless with no chemistry and no drive.
Baines basically said something which is open to interpretation. Another words he went to the media with his frustration and it could either force Martinez to act or it could backfire cue the Martinez has lost the dressing room etc etc...

I love it when a players says it how it is, im sick of the same old defeat or draw followed by the inevitable Jagielka statement of 'we must do better' routine.
