Someone is going to make a fortune converting office blocks with their perfect inner city locations, and great transport links, especially as the clean air zones movement gains momentum. WFH attitudes need formalizing.
I'd like some of these 2 bed flats for £200k tbh. Here you won't find a 1 bed for less than about £450k. This is a new development near us. Good luck if you're a nurse and an ex football forum moderator.

Alas, poor Rishi! Thy handling of the purse Hath been both haphazard and inordinate. Thy tax and spend hath caused much ado, With many a subject's wallet feeling light.

Thou art so hasty in thy course of action, With little regard for the long-term plan. Thy sudden shifts in policy do fracture, The faith of the people in the government's hand.

Thy borrowed wealth, thou heapeth up so high, That future generations may bear the weight. A legacy of debt, for which they'll sigh, As they struggle to set their finances straight.

Thou art a minister of finance, 'tis true, But in thy haste, thou art neglecting prudence. Take heed, good sir, lest thy actions ensue, In tragedy for both thee and the kingdom's reliance.

It's just supply demand mate. If renters have more options, prices go down.
Personally I think private renters should be strictly restricted to renting a certain amount of properties. I remember when I lived in Liverpool centre and they built that apartment block on the road between the merchant and the big tesco. Before it was built I think most of the flats had been sold off to private landlords.

Singapore has conservative values. That's one of the main reasons why it is one of the safest, most desirable cities in the world to live. That's not hard to replicate. We used to have that here, but, the UK has moved away from that...

Remember when Sadiq Khan said that London is 'the safest global city in the world'... not even remotely accurate!!! It doesn't even scratch the surface as a safe global city!

Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai, Abu Dhabi etc. Safe, desirable places to live, and all primarily based on their societies having conservative values.

What happens if you are gay, want to drink or use the internet?

Just had a letter demanding a 45% increase in our rent over the next 3 years from our landlord

Well we have a country with a conservative government, and are riddled with crime. So frankly I'd rather we move away from conservative values, as it just seems to increase more crime.

From experience, countries with less conservative values seem to be safer. Scandinavia, Germany etc. So for me, we should do everything we can do move away from conservative values if we want less crime. But that's just what I want.

As for Singapore, it's a small Asian country, with an enduring finance system that is disproportionately large. I dont think we can replicate what they do.

As a final aside, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Dubai etc are pretty awful places for lots of people. I wouldnt want to live in a society like that. I appreciate they are conservative societies, but that is a big problem for people in why they dont work, a bit like this country (in my view of course).

We don't have a conservative government. And true, conservative values are no longer implemented. The current government is conservative in name only. We have a bunch of opportunistic cowards with no conviction... from both sides! They don't think further ahead than the next general election.

Well it is a conservative government mate, implementing conservative values and policies, and wrecking this country.

So my cards on the table, I'd rather have a better country.

But the Soviet Union had low crime. It doesnt make it a great place to live. A bit like Singapore. I praise civil liberties. I suppose I just value my rights a bit more.

I think our town centres / city centres / personal spaces would be far safer if alcohol was banned. The WC in Qatar supports this...

How come not point out that this is the first PM thats took two fixed penalty notices in 9 months, and his previous boss is using £250k of tax payer monies to fight his case versus the other four parties he threw (cake and all!) and is trying to weasel out of. "no conviction" indeed...

Crap system that they basically can do whatever they want isn’t it? Saw my old flat I lived in until 2019 which was 575 a month online recently for 1100 a month

Some of it will be mortgage rate rises potentially, but some of it may well also be shameless profiteering.

Used to live in Bristol. At the time it was hot for people moving to from the South East. Some letting agents were leafleting advertising that they could get an extra % yield per month. Loads went for it and there were a ton of section 21s being served (no fault evictions).

So glad I brought a few years back. Just takes me out of that whole racket.
