Not defending the man, as I think he’s a political lightweight, but it would be seriously naive to think a man with £700M of his own and a wife with Gazillions wouldn't have top level private cover. It’s also worth noting that his private cover, like millions of other do with private medical insurance, means there’s no cost to the NHS and indeed reduces NHS costs…..

Unfortunately it is and always has been. It doesn’t matter what party they belong to or support, people with money will pay for what they want. Meanwhile Scotland are even debating a two tier system for those that can pay. It’s an unfortunate fact of life…..
