Braverman will talk herself into the sack eventually, she's a very handy crap magnet at the minute because the more pressure she cops eventually he looks statesman like when he bins her. He then has the excuse of 'I backed her so far' but eventually 'she had to go' and so 'I acted in good faith to appease the right wing mosleys'. Every which way he wins on this point, it's who and how the replacement goes. Something has to give, because when the foreign aid budget is slashed again and theres no hotels left but theres still 1.8million job vacancies, theres likely to be a tipping point. Ironic thing is, theres choppy waves in front of the decision makers...

Today's press been briefed up by the government about impending tax hikes. No surprise to see that the economic parlour games of the last idiot in number 10 has come home to roost.

The governments action / inaction caused needless deaths during covid.
Brexit has ended up with bodies in the channel, and for those that make it the migrant centres present new challenges for survival.
Putting up taxes when people can't afford to eat or heat their homes will have a huge death toll, especially over winter.

For all their BS about getting things done, vaccines, pursing growth (they've achieved the opposite) and using the war in Ukraine as a PR tool, lets not forget this lot have blood on their hands.

All the media pandering to the likes of Boris and JRM as likable eccentrics is disgusting. The whole lot of them should be rounded up and sent to Rwanda.

I think everyone expects taxes to rise, but what we need to know is which taxes are going to rise and who it will effect....

As a boring old accountant, this is way too much change and uncertainty for my liking.

The wording being put out is that everyone will have to share the burden so maybe a rise in the lower rate or a roll back of the tax free allowance?

I really haven't a clue at this point. There are a lot of options. Increasing CGT might be an easy one for the government, then something with income tax but only at the very top. They can't increase CT by any more - it's already due to go up by 6% in April.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a freeze on the allowance. With pay rises, no matter how small we all end up paying a bit more. But then they can go and say, technically we didn't put up tax rates.
When in fact those on minimum wage will have been walloped.

Can easily see vat being played around with a bit as well. Maybe not an increase, but some of the vat free and low rate stuff being ammended.
Wouldn't be surprised to see the 1% pay rise come back again for next year.
