Rik Mayall Dies.

Last night the bafta awards thing did a massive tribute to Richard Attenborough (no qualms at all with that) then a separate montage for 2014 deaths.

No mention at all of Rik Mayall. Now, this was, I believe toward the end of the show however at this point I turned off.

The reaction on Twitter (shudder) was similar to my own, so I'm assuming a Rik tribute did not follow once I'd switched off.

Disgusted of Merseyside.

I thought this too.. Is baftas film only? Either way he should have been included. But was he famous enough to be mentioned? The Americans wouldn't know him..

He was in Drop Dead Fred and American Werewolf in London, to name but two films.

Whether Americans know him or not, we knew him.

Odd that. British Film & TV awards, mate of Stephen Fry, not a word? Was it live last night? Might have been edited out maybe.

Edit; Just checked. It was BAFTA's FILM awards only. So not TV.

Even so.

Felt very sorry for his wife when it happened. A strong, vivacious woman who seemed to keep his mania in check.

Holland Park will have been a lot quieter since his passing.

Hope he gets some recognition.

No mention of Bob Hoskins either.

I thought that too as I regard him more as a film actor of late than the Pennies from Heaven tv stuff

In a statement, BAFTA said: "Due to the timing of his death in April last year, and the fact that his credits included television as well as film (he was BAFTA-nominated for Pennies from Heaven in 1979), Bob Hoskins was included in the televised obituaries package at the British Academy Television Awards last year.

"BAFTA features individuals in televised obituaries only once, sadly due to the number of people we'd like to recognise at any one time, and that means difficult decisions have to be made as to which ceremony they should be included in.

"As Bob died in April last year, just before the television awards, we felt it was right to remember his wonderful career then, rather than wait until last night's film awards."
