i dunno if i'm imagining it but isn't tyias browning also a right back? does anyone know where he was played during his time at wigan?

I think a combination of Hibbert, Browning and Besic should be enough to see us through. Particularly as it allows RM to pick and choose when to give Browning a game. I also suspect that if RM asked him to, Oviedo would put in a shift at RB; I further think he'd be ok there, but it is just a gut feeling.

Whilst I like Micah Richards as a prospect, the move wouldn't make sense for him. He'd be backing up Coleman and fighting with Stones for time as a backup CB. If we didn't have Stones I'd be far more in favour - but we do, and bringing in Richards would take game time away from Stones which would be unhelpful for his development. It would also kill off any prospect Duffy has of playing this season (good or bad depending on your estimation of his prospects), and render Alcaraz redundant (obviously a good thing).

Finally, I'd be amazed if we could match whatever mind-boggling wage he's on at City - would he take a big pay cut to come and be a backup RB/CB for us? I don't see why he would.

Stones will be a good replacement...played that position at Barnsley, has pace to get forward, can run with the ball and spot a pass.....right now it might be a better position for him, as if he makes a mistake jags & distin can cover for him..

Theres several players id rather see there than hibbo, its not the loss of an attacking threat that worries me its the fact that defensively hes proper gone to [Poor language removed]

I'd be happy with anyone other than Hibbert putting in a shift at right back. Mirallas, Besic, Pienaar, Long ?

Hibbert. Sure he is a great lad, thanks for your time here and not only has he earned his money at the club he loves, but has played out every Evertonian dreams of playing in blue. However, we've gone up a level or two and watching him play for us now, is like a deer in the headlights.

To the people who keep advocating Micah Richards, I'm not saying he’s a bad player but:
  • City reportedly want £6/7m.
  • That’s a ludicrous fee for us to pay for someone regarded as backup.
  • His injury record is so bad he probably couldn’t be counted on as backup.
  • He wouldn’t want to be backup, that’s why he wants to leave City.
  • His wages are probably quite hefty.
  • We have Stones, Hibbert, Browning, Besic and even Oviedo who could all fill in if needed.

Everyone is this thread is mad. "Should be Besic", "Never Hibbert", "Stones is my man".

Everyone is bad mouthing Hibbert because he looked "out of place" preseason. Has everyone coincidentally forgot the 2 huge mistakes Stones made which directly caused us to concede? Our backup RB is (unfortunately) Hibbert.
