No, you’ve missed my point entirely.

They should have just ruled him out of both games and not got the fans’ hopes up that he’ll be returning for the Newcastle game after watching that turgid crap they served up the other day without him.
I haven't missed your point, it's just rubbish. What difference would it have made to fans attitude if they'd been told 72 hours ahead of the game instead of 24? None. It's possibly the most nonsensical thing i've ever read on here, and that is not an easy accolade.

We probably hoped he would have been able to play tomorrow.

No point risking him if he is a slight doubt. At least he has a good break till our next game.

This. No need to do a 'Rashford'. Hopefully Gordon will start. Not a chance I know, but would love Adeniran to be thrown in fresh from scoring 2 goals in a MoM performance for the U23s. 21 years-old and trains with the first-team most days, so not sure it would even be that much of a risk considering the form of our current CMs.

Ancelloti did say he wants to use some of youth players so I'd say that's a good shout . eggs was talking about him the other day .

For a start, I think everybody would be a lot more confident with Richarlison on the pitch. Having players you know you can trust helps with atmosphere, instead when we all thought we’d have our best player back for a winnable home game he will now be replaced by someone nowhere near as good.

Now instead of just preparing the fans in advance of what was surely already known, they strung us along into believing he’d be ready to play.

If you think fans don’t play an important role in a season, I suggest you look at our home and away form for the past God knows how many years.

Mate stop mouth breathing and just think about what you're saying for a second. It wouldn't matter when they told us he wasn't playing would it, he still wouldn't be playing. So we still wouldn't have a player we trust in the team, so the atmosphere would not be changed one iota. When we found about the change would not matter in the situation you're talking about, you're just being weird for the sake of it.

After listening to Bruce after the Chelsea match these are arriving at Goodison with zero intention of keeping hold of the ball. It's the classic sit back, pump up to Joelinton or Carrol and try and nick something off a set piece. This should be a good chance for the likes of Bernard, Digne and Iwobi to have time on the ball, might even be worth putting Holgate in midfield.

Of course it matters when they tell us. We all started the day thinking we'd have our best player back, confident of going in to beat a poor Newcastle team at home. Now we're all on a downer thinking that we'll be replicating the turgid West Ham performance.

Had they just been honest from the start, expectation wouldn't have changed.

Don't see what your issue is.

Medical team thought he'd be ok for Newcastle game. Progress hasn't been as anticipated. Don't want to risk him.

Making an issue out of a non-issue.
