Everything just takes an age at the club.

That's why the inevitable Lampard sacking or mutual consent, will take the bones of the remainder of the month to work itself out, I fear.

They will get around to it rather than do it cleanly and quickly, the worst outcome.

Money or not, I cannot at this point see any hope in surviving if we keep him and potentially fatal damage is being done to our chances the longer we allow him to stay.

We lack competent, efficient business professionals and have a confused and ineffective structure that is seemingly bewildered and overtaken by events. There are people at the helm but at the same time nobody at the helm.

It's time like never before for real leadership but sadly our lack of same at all levels is precisely the reason we are heading directly towards the iceberg.

That's the frightening thibg for me too. If you think it, it'll happen. The club will be looking at forums like this for the general mood and they'll see the fans are resigned to this and it'll smooth the way to relegation without spending any more cash and give them confidence they'll survive the drop withiut being driven out.

This situation is VASTLY different to last season when their was a refusal to accept our apparent fate.

Heard similar mutterings outside the ground after the game last night. The dog fight we were in last season and the subsequent reaction from the fans is just not sustainable year on year, eventually fans start to think losing every week is the norm and then your fate is sealed. It's a sad sad situation were in at the minute.

Our only way out is some sort of ignition in the form of management overhaul now. Fresh ideas and enthusiasm, almost groundhog day from Rafael to Lampard but this time the manager has to have more nous for on the pitch ideas or any optimism will deteriorate quicker than back end of last season when results went against us. Who that management is I haven't a clue and I doubt the club do either.

Forgive me for possibly taking each post too literally - but I don't think the hysteria helps.

I'm not suggesting people shouldn't be very concerned but posts writing us off feel like they are done for extra effect.

We aren't even in the bottom 3 and we have half the season left, and time left in the transfer window. I'm not trying to downplay the seriousness of the situation and am actually in shock at how we are here yet again, getting humiliated by the likes of Brighton at home but I don't see why people like to ignore the teams around us.

The teams around us are just as bad as us, if not worse. That is proven in the league table. It's also proven by the goal difference with about 4 of them. Significantly worse than ours. We look like we will struggle at the moment to get 35+ points, but that also applies to about 5 or 6 teams as well. So to just take us in isolation and claim we are the worst team or definitely getting relegated is just not helpful.

We don't have the worst form either. West Ham and Southampton have both lost their last 5 matches. We've also beaten both of them this season.
Ok mate i change my mind
We will get top 4

He should have been gone now. If there was intent to get out of this all guns blazing, we'd have had a managerial search officially up and running.

I dont think there's any urgency. For them.

Last season also we had a very involved owner. Decisions could be made. He's nowhere now and we're hanging by a thread.

We absolutely are and a win here or there just won't cut it now. Last season was too close for comfort and we are in a worse place at the moment despite, in my opinion, better options in defence and midfield than last season.

Theoretically we have an easier route out of this mess than those around us: we've been playing without attackers all season. Ergo: sign two and we'd likely stay up.

Agree is not a great situation but you add players to this team it can keep up safe

So what are you suggesting we do with the managerial situation?
I don't think FL (as much as I like him) has the tools to work with a club like Everton in it's current position.

I think we need a manager like Dyche who knows how to get results with limited talent and knows how to escape relegation.

I know he eventually lost his job at Burnley and they got relegated , but clubs like Burnley rarely survive for ever in the Premiership as they are forced to sell their better players and don't have the money to replace them. Buit, Dyche kept them competitive for a long time as Howe did with Bournemouth.

In my opinion we are just sleep walking to relegation just now.

Last night the problem went way beyond the lack of attacking threat, that is the worry , we can't attack and last night we couldn't defend either.

If you exclude the City game and then look at the last half dozen games it is difficult to believe there is a worse team in the Premiership than us at present.

defending hasnt been the issue this season so far - last night apart conceding 4. And a defence can be strengthened with a formation change.

A couple of attackers are our priority now.

Ings plus a forward we can count on taking to the field regularly and has at least some record of scoring are essential.

The midfield will prosper with those two additions too.

We’re all exhausted. It’s supposed to be fun. It’s an absolute chore. No one is looking forward to the games. All we can see is stress and heartache.
