I think they'll leave it for now simply because they have no alternative cash wise to recruit players. If they sack Lampard too soon in this window and hire his successor (or even hand it to Baines) then the fans will be clamouring for players. As it is fans are more interested in if/when Lampard goes and who should replace him.

I think we're in that type of desperate situation.

Last year we had cash and moved to replace Benitez quickly when it all went sideways quickly. I dont see that happening this year.
But what player wants to sign for a manager on the brink, either? It's a mess.

They'd put themslelves in the PL shop window for a move elsewhere.

The PL is Mecca for players.
well that's the reason I would advocate for getting rid of him before the window. If his pull power doesn't matter and Thelwell is supposed to be the recruiter....

The club seemingly have no cash for players in January.

I want Lampard gone now, but his successor wont have cash to throw at this, and that's going to allow Frank a few more weeks until a decision is made to maybe go with Baines.

It feels like we're hunkering down for the long haul to the Championship and not wasting cash along the way.

I hope that isn't the case, but there's a decent chance it is the case. Lampard would (and should) have been gone by now otherwise.

I mean there is positives to relegation but I simply refuse to support a club that lowers themself to that.

I’ve supported the blues for as long as I remember so for them to lose all that fight and willpower and get relegated will be the nail in the coffin for me. This isn’t the same Everton I started supporting. This is depression on a platter. Me and the nature boy can’t take it anymore

Wasn't exactly quick as I recall, took 2 weeks to appoint Frank.

Looks like this year they've been caught flat footed just as they were last season with Benitez. The cup game is a missed opportunity - a caretaker might take the pressure out of the game and a cup win/run would lift the place and build confidence. As it stands we'll probably get pumped by UTD and Southampton and find ourselves really in the mire (as if we aren't already).

We need action and quickly or we'll sleepwalk into the championship.

Definitely feels like everyone’s given up. I’ll be shocked if we stay up
That's the frightening thibg for me too. If you think it, it'll happen. The club will be looking at forums like this for the general mood and they'll see the fans are resigned to this and it'll smooth the way to relegation without spending any more cash and give them confidence they'll survive the drop withiut being driven out.

This situation is VASTLY different to last season when their was a refusal to accept our apparent fate.

Dave.

I think we now need a manager who is capable of working in tight situations with no money and a group of players who are underperforming.

Forget about winning games, lets stop losing them.
Forget about performances, pick up points. Ironically we need Sam Allyrdyce now even more than we did the last time but so many think we are better than a manager like allrydyce or Dyche..... and we are not.

My worry if we sack FL is he will be replaced by someone even less able to cope with where we are now.

I dont think there's any urgency. For them.

Last season also we had a very involved owner. Decisions could be made. He's nowhere now and we're hanging by a thread.

So what are you suggesting we do with the managerial situation?

Yes we are in the loan market unless a player goes out by the looks of things
