The script isn’t fully written for this year but with high points and low points still come this team isn’t very good and bad management compounds the problem. No money to refresh a tired squad and it seems Pickers will be a dead cert to leave in the summer at the latest to help with funds. Simms and Cannon need time to see if they can keep us a float. Maupay has been dismal and DCL is so brittle he seems related to Mina.

Wonder if Lampard will be tempted to stick with yesterday’s set up for more away games. 3 at the back didn’t work last year but one of the main reasons for that was our centre backs and central midfield options were garbage. Coady, Tarkowski and now Godfrey returning has a good mix of steel and some pace. With Onana, Gueye and Iwobi we should be hard to break down and be able to offer a threat when we attack. We restricted City to 3 shots on target yesterday which is pretty impressive.

They were never in a relegation scrap especially with their new manager. They have a great squad and no doubt they will be spending a bit in January.

Don’t want to speak too soon but this weekend appears to have shaped up to be a favourable weekend for us with five of the bottom seven teams losing - only us and Leeds picked a point up. We now HAVE to beat Brighton to increase the value of the point at City.
