Sound logic.

It’s all so tight, with no one adrift, that the best thing for us is for the minimisation of points for all teams 12-20th.

As you say, that means draws between them when they play each other. 3 points for our rivals becomes 2 - and no one side gains more than 1.

And, a draw in this situation is not great for boosting morale.

Southampton or West Ham drawing this game will be a disappointment for them, given the level of the opposition. Neither will get much easier games than this.

It’s not like an away game against a good side where you don’t expect three points and a draw is a positive.

A draw would make very little difference to that picture though.

Whereas it would be two points dropped for another team currently below us.

The two teams currently at the foot of the table both dropping two points is much better than one of them winning and either overtaking us or getting level.

Southampton can be the first. I'd say Forest - given their form and remaining foxtures - will be the second.

I'd take my chances with 6 other teams after that in a fight to avoid the other relegation place.

If we win tomorrow we’re above a team who has played the same number of games that we will have at that point (Wolves).

It’s not the end of the earth if we don’t get three points (or even one so long as the performance is good and we’re unlucky), but it will be a huge morale boosting opportunity lost if we don’t win IMO.

By all accounts the Premier League hierarchy will do their best to ensure we go down if, as claimed, they intend to complete their FFP enquiry prior to the season's end and subject to the outcome will deduct us points. Seems they are running scared of other clubs adopting a form of class action if Everton are not in some way penalised.

Personally, I think we are doomed to spend our final season at GP in a lower tier irrespective of what we achieve points wise between now and May....although IF we can maximise our points total then it will be harder for the PL to deduct us maximum penalty points just to ensure we go down because of the transparency behind taking that decision.

Regarding the whole FFP situation, I'm not even gonna pretend that I understand all the goings on behind the scenes.
As much as certain posters on here seem to love the sound of there own voice on the FFP thread, nobody knows what's coming or when it will be resolved.
But one thing I do know is that they only have a very short window now for anything to be possible this season and even if they could get through it all, we then have the right to appeal the decision and drag out even more time in court. so I just can't see relegation this season being anything to do with FFP charges.

If it happens this season it will be on the field.

Of the teams in the relegation scrap, it’s really only Palace that I want to do well based on fixtures. If they hit form they can do us a hell of a lot of favours between now and the end of the year. We’ve still got them away mind you.

Most of the teams around us still have to play each other though, and West Ham are a bit of an outlier there. Based on fixtures they’ve got one of the tougher runs. If they don’t win today it could be panic stations.

Forest haven’t won in 7 and Leicester in 6 so they’ve got to be feeling it now. Longer that keeps up the better.

Agree with this. Lose today with City next week and Saints are in a desperate position. Time to start picking favourites. I am pinning my hopes on Saints and Forest. Which will then leave us in a street fight with West Ham, Leicester, Leeds, Bournemouth and Wolves to avoid the last spot

Palace are going to do well with Woy back.

As for us, I think we will be alright, finishing in about 15th.

Leicester only took seven years to go down after winning the league, being IF they do go down. Blackburn however took four.

More than happy for Palace to beat Leeds and Southampton next which would pretty much guarantee them survival and then roll over for us the next game!
