Everyone who keeps using the "They have to much Quality" to go down thing, that means nothing as proved by so many decent teams been at the bottom, so many would not have thought West Ham or Leicester would be down there, so many will blame euro comps for West Ham been there despite it having no effect on them last season - so many blamed euro comps for us not doing well on any given season despite our worst league run at times was when we were on the break from euro comps on any given season. at the end of the day any game as we know is 11 v 11 and its who wants it most

I think there'll be a couple of escapees that join Palace and get away from the final day game trauma.

There'll be about 4 maybe 5 in the final day shake up.

We need to get 3 of our 4 our home game's won to avoid that. That or win two of them and one on the road.
I just can’t see it staying this tight to the final game, clubs will go on runs, and one or two will get cut adrift, it might even happen that it’s all settled before the last game. I just hope we are one of the clubs who get to safety nice and early.

Tomorrow's game might 'only' have 3 points at stake, but if we get them it'll mean so much more than that. Chelsea and Spurs games behind us with 4 points and with United away and City at home the only others we may drop all points in.

Those teams that get to 30 points quickest will have a massive psychological advantage. We can get to a point of that tomorrow.

Hoping for a draw today.

When two of the relegation pack play each other four points dropped is better than three.
Sound logic.

It’s all so tight, with no one adrift, that the best thing for us is for the minimisation of points for all teams 12-20th.

As you say, that means draws between them when they play each other. 3 points for our rivals becomes 2 - and no one side gains more than 1.

By all accounts the Premier League hierarchy will do their best to ensure we go down if, as claimed, they intend to complete their FFP enquiry prior to the season's end and subject to the outcome will deduct us points. Seems they are running scared of other clubs adopting a form of class action if Everton are not in some way penalised.

Personally, I think we are doomed to spend our final season at GP in a lower tier irrespective of what we achieve points wise between now and May....although IF we can maximise our points total then it will be harder for the PL to deduct us maximum penalty points just to ensure we go down because of the transparency behind taking that decision.

Maybe. But you do need teams cut adrift to stay there with no chance of a return at some point. That may as well start now.

S'ton play City and Arsenal in the next few games. A loss today will probably cement them at the bottom after those fixtures are done - and marooned by a good few points too.

I'm not saying you are.

You do appear to be a member of the death cult on here though.

"By all accounts the PL intend to make their decision early"...says who? A Daily Heil hack?
Just preparing and steeling myself in the event that the worse does happen. I consider myself a stoic pragmatist and a conspiracy theorist.

It makes life more interesting🤯

Could potentially have an impact on motivational talks….considerable points distance needs to be gained between us and the third placed team in case the unthinkable does happen and they deduct points (although I think we would appeal and they would be deferred to next season)

Let's hope we achieve our optimal points target to make the PL's lives more difficult.

A draw would make very little difference to that picture though.

Whereas it would be two points dropped for another team currently below us.

The two teams currently at the foot of the table both dropping two points is much better than one of them winning and either overtaking us or getting level.
