It looks like he got his first taste of first team football the other night, coming on for the last 20 mins against Emelec in the Libertadores Cup. I watched his “ highlights” , nothing much really , a few flicks , a few touches but nothing yet to suggest wunderkid status. Would love it if we get him , but doubt if we’d pay £30 mill for a 17 year old as yet unproven player

I was actually watching the match. Part of the problem was that the last 20 minutes had about 8 minutes of actual football because the Libertadores goes straight to penalties and Emelec were getting battered. They did everything to kill the game and it worked. The other thing was the deeper midfielders really struggled passing forward for the part he was on. It made it tough on all the attackers. They had no chances except for a 40 yard run by a winger called Bruno.

My wording was “ , a few flicks , a few touches but nothing yet to suggest wunderkid status. “ so you’ve put your own interpretation on my words , as I haven’t decided he’s not a wonder kid, far too early to tell . On the other hand, if you’ve watched the same 2 min clips and have decided from this that he is a wonder kid then fill your boots and point out the flicks and touches that have led you to this decision.

He is already a wonder kid. That comes from him bossing every level that a kid plays in....hence wonder kid being used.

Remains to be seen if he fulfils his potential.

Watched the video and reminded me more than a bit of a young Ross Barkley. Much more powerful and clever than the players around him. Ultimately injury at 16 greatly curtailed Ross and the intelligence that went alongside precocious ability didn't naturally follow.
