Transfer Rumour Reinier Jesus

Trying not to get too excited about this one as it seems inconceivable.

But if we were to sort this out....

Obviously just based on YouTube and nothing else.
The thing is we know real quality when we see it. We saw it at the same age in Rooney, Ronaldo (the Brazilian one), Messi, Maradona, Pele and more recently in Mbappe. Rooney never made the step up and we're still to see if Mbappe does. But players of this ilk rarely come along.

There is every chance that this kid will not become special like some of the above. It takes more than natural ability as we all know, and I have no idea what the lads attitude or personality is like. But my first instinct when I saw that video was "wow". And I've never done that before. Watch the way he scores the goals from the edge of the box; the power he get's from literally just stroking the ball with no back lift. I've seen players do that before on the odd occasion when something just clicks and you get the perfect connection. This kid did it 5 times in that video and he's still only 17 ffs.

The fact that we're on the brink of signing one of the best attacking prospects in Europe from one of the biggest and most famous clubs, and we're all on here taking about this kid speaks volumes. For his age, this kid is a rare gem. Whether he becomes really special is up for debate, but I guarantee we will not lose out financially if we do spend £40m on him.

But I'm with you on this mate. This seems too good to be true so I'm refusing to go overboard on it until it's been undeniably confirmed.

Why would a 17 year old wonderkid from Brazil be liking confirmation that Everton have signed Delph.

It's those sorts of things that give this one weight. With Brands and Silva in negotiation and the reality of Bramley Moore and increased investment, I can see how we could sell the club to him.

Richarlison, Reinier and Kean leading the title charge in 2023/24 at USM Bramley Moore Stadium (not that I am thinking too far ahead) :)

Nonsense, Rooney was a world class player and proved it over the course of his career. Just because England could never sort themselves out on the international stage doesn't mean he wasn't one of the best in the world

Two things and I've highlighted them above.

1. Rooney was world class. Should be zero debate over this.

2. You obviously haven't been an Evertonian for long because Wayne Rooney at this same age was wow-ing me and others; hence why 99.9% of evertonians were gutted when he left, with some still not forgiving him for it. Utd changed molded him into a different player but make no mistake the Rooney that was briefly in our 1st team squad back in his teenage years and for England at the same time was a talent we rarely see.

These types of signings are investments too.

If he has got as much quality as they say, then in 4-5 years time he could go for treble or quadruple the money we spent - see Joao Felix.

I’m not going to pretend to know anything about him but from all reports he appears to be a ridiculously talented player.

I feel Vinícius Júnior and his transfer to Real Madrid is very similar situation to a potential Jesus deal. Junior also player for Flamengo and Madrid had to wait until he was 18 before the transfer could go through.

Junior had already made 69 first team appearances for Flamengo before he moved to Madrid for just over £40m recently after he turned 18yo. I know there’s very few footballers are even close to the first team before they’re 18 but if he’s a “once in a generation” player and demanding a fee of £40m I just find it odd that he hasn’t been around the first team yet.

Rooney is by far the most exciting player I’ve seen IRL*. Maybe through blue tinted glasses but I don’t care. That time and that place was unbelievable. There was a period where he was unstoppable. And he was 16-17. Never forget that arsenal game. They never show it but he almost scored an even better one where he chipped seaman from the edge of the box.

*That includes ronaldo at United, gerrard, scholes, lampard, beckham, drogba, Henry etc.

Rooney's first season in the premier league was the stuff of dreams. I remember him making Bolton look stupid, in particular. Oh, and the time he skinned Darren Moore do easily he went back and did it again 2 seconds later.

Back then I was a student and didn't have the money for tickets very often so I used to go to some of the youth games. I remember the semi final of the youth FA Cup against Villa and being genuinely unbelieving at how much better he was than everybody else on the field.

yep, literally right after that goal. disgusting angle and I think it hit the bar/post and bounced over.

But it wasn't just flashes like that. Defenders were literally scared and had no clue what to do with him. Rooney in blue was a different player than Rooney in red.

I am sure this Brazilian kid will turn out special but I am reserving my opinions on him as a player until I see him play a few times live and not against other kids.
