Reflections on the Euros

Obviously he couldn't. He must be fuming.
Oh, it hasn't stopped him before. He'll pick on Pickford by default. "I can't see England winning a majour tournament with Pickford" was his line at the start of the tournament. As if Pickford was the critical determinant.

I got told two weeks ago that England's problem is Pickford. Apparently he is too panicky and he causes problems for the defence.

The Spanish manager has done a marvelous job.

Remember when Spain made 1,000 passes in losing to Russia on penalties in 2018?

Or the last time around against Morocco? Mind numbing. A fetish.

To change that is some achievement. They have a superb cutting edge now to capitalise on their technical excellence.
Can’t disagree. He showed poor Garth rar up.

I really enjoyed it.

All tournaments are the same and we have this discussion every two years.

Loads of breakthrough players, some great moments and great goals, England reaching the final, atmosphere was brilliant, Georgia were great fun and there were some cracking games in the groups.

Did he manage to blame Pickford for the goals, too?

No, not quite. In the Dutch game Whelan did subtly check in on Van DIjk getting injured but didn't mention how, he referenced it saying he lost a yard of pace after the injury. Does anybody know what happened, not sure I heard anything about it, at the time.

It was a weird one, the quality of football was poor from a lot of the major sides but then lots of people like Austria, Turkey and Georgia all had a good go. Games would be pure snooze fests but then there always seemed to be a late goal.

Defo feel it went on too long, would like to see.them trim down the competition again.

Too many teams
Players over tired
'Big' teams and players flattered to deceive, Spain excepted.
The 'unfancied ' nations played with a pleasing joie de vivre, but we're lacking a little tactical acumen.
The games have got better for the squeaky bum time.
VAR and referees, by and large, much better than we have to suffer.
England surprised us all - be honest, in the main we've played crap, but we have the individual talent to win.

Thoughts ?
Funny how Spanish players (lots of them played full seasons in other European leagues) didn't look that tired.

He was excellent. Surely all but guaranteed to replace either Don Carlo or Pep.
