Rasmus Elm

As I said earlier, we won't put up a serious bid for any midfielder until Moyes have gotten his defender(s). That's why I hope we snatch up Senderos as a backup so Moyes can focus on other positions in the squad and get the players he want before they go somewhere else.

I'd see Senderos as replacement not back up, tbh, so in that respect I dont know why a bid hasn't been forthcoming. Something doesn't add up here: showing a player around a facility tends to suggest an *understanding* on price has been reached between clubs...unless Kalmar are in the habit of letting their players and their agents brazenly determine things.

We all know it will be OK in the end yet we still let this window/rumour stuff get to us!

Ever thought of a day when that just isnt enought? Citeh and Spurs can under-cut and buy out ANYONE we have a sniff of. What do we do? Wait till 2 minutes to midnight on transfer deadline day to get a few loans and a random over priced player, all who take 10 games to get settles. By that time we've dropped 15points.

Citeh can drop a few points, wait till January opens and spend £50mill to not drop anymore.

Here's how it went -
Show the lad around.
"You like?"
"Yeah"
"You want time to think about it?"
"Yes please. We'll get back to you"
MONTH LATER, Kalmar have had 5 bids from everyone...apart from us.
"So, Rasmus. You want to come here?"
"I'm afraid we've had substancial bids from 5 teams that we are considering...you were to late in replying to us"

Happens all the time. How many times we've heard a player go ..."No one got back to us". Moutinho said it last year FFS!

Cana underlined the club's sloth-like movement also by comparing it unfavourably with Sunderland. It's not a great reputation to be dragging around the football world, that's for sure.

Spot on with both posts KB, you the man. (y)

Sounds like he is up his own arse to be honest. I dont think its a case of us not bidding for the lad as we have shown him around Finch Farm etc...

I suspect he is either stalling for improved wages, or considering running down his contract so he can pick up a hefty signing on fee.

Then, theres always the chance Moyes wasn't impressed with the lads attitude. Or, has a price in his head and won't go over it.

The usual excuses then.....

Lets see how well he's spends the £10mill he's gonna get from Lescott.

It's not Elm that states that Everton hasn't come in with an offer, it's the club.

But You're right in that Moyes usually have a certain price he will pay as maximum for a player and won't go over it. Naughton is a good recent example. So Moyes might very well think that £3M is his limit for Elm and since that sum have already been discarded by the club he might have placed this transfer in his trashbin.

So its a case of...we think this highly rated youngster is worth £3mill or something.

Everyone else just slaps £5mill on the table so we dont even get to go the discussions.

Problem with that theory is that Moyes will have known exactly what the asking price was before he invited the lad to FF.

As opposed to blaming the club for everything when you don't have a damn clue what is actually happening and why he hasn't signed for us.

Could be a mulitude of reasons but nope its always the clubs fault.

Chances are that if he doesn't come here its because he doesn't want to and there's bugger all we can do about that or we don't want him. Be it due to wages, attitude or whatever. Not because the people involved in the transfer are sitting around with their heads up the arses.

Perhaps, unless Kalmar have done a SU and increased the price later due to his performance in the european qualification matches or simply due to the interest shown from other clubs in Europe.

They might also have agreed on the figure but Moyes wants to pay the sum in installments over a few years and Kalmar wants it directly.

So who's fault is it that we have yet to sign anyone of note with the exception of a player we had for the last few months of last season?? Surely not every player as a bad attitude, have too high wage demands. My bet is that we are frightened to spend what little money we have by offering a pittance to our transfer targets.

Post of the day.

To be fair ste, if we had signed Elm swiftly with no rumours linking him to other clubs, am sure you would still be saying we haven't signed anyone "of note" because if we are honest here, no one had heard of Elm a few weeks ago.

"A serious offer has not come in from Everton. We have got offers from another English club and a Dutch one,"

"It is correct that Manchester City will be here."

"The more clubs who are interested, the better for us."

Translation: Only Everton have confirmed interest, but the more teams we say are interested, the more likely Everton will budge and up wages/fees.
