RANGERS

Slight difference between winning the SPFL and the Champions League.

The gap at the top is nowhere near where some think.
Rangers collapsed at the end of the season and spent most of the season managed by an under 20s coach.
Celtic have scored 2 goals more than Rangers this season, Rangers have been in turmoil this season. The last manager was an idiot who squandered good money on Pena, Herrera, Alves and Dalcio.
Our Captain has been injured all season and we've also had horrendous injuries.

Celtic are currently the best of a bad lot, but their performances in the CL proved how good they are.
It won't take much to close that gap.

I think it's like what Dave King said.If Rangers take just one title off Celtic. Then it's a case of the entire stack of cards collapsing.I remember in the Advocaat years.I thought Rangers would lord it over Celtic for another decade.Apart from that season under Wim Jansen, when Celtic won the league due to Rangers taking their eye off the ball, from the years 1988 to 2000 Celtic were in a no mans land. But along came Martin O'Neill, the tide turned in their favour, and he pretty much finished off Dik Advocaat.Fortunes change in football, and the tide can change, a hell of a lot sooner than people think.

Ha Ha.

Apparently Rangers have won 54 Scottish titles and Gerrard is seen as the Messiah who'll lead them to the 55th.

Ah.....it seems like only yesterday he was on the verge of being the Messiah who was about to lead a certain other team to their 19th.....;)

You make good points but I think the reality is Celtic have fallen into a very complacent state of mind and that if Rangers were to up their game next season and make a sustained challenge at the top it would wake the Hoops up from their ennui and they would keep the gap very wide.

For the next couple or three years anywsy.

Only he isn't Catholic, not that it would matter to me or any other Rangers fan, It only seems to be Celtic fans who care about the religion of Rangers players.

Its such a pity that you don't know the word "Fenian" originates from the IRB, which were founded by Irish exiles living in America who supported an armed struggle to force home rule on Ireland.

I never called him a "Fenian" either, a "Fenian" is an Irish republican terrorist of a supporter of terrorism.
So, Once again, I'm not sure why you raised what Religion you wrongly perceived Gerrard to be.

You're not very good at this, are you?

I've got no idea or interest in the theology of Steven Gerrard. He is a lowlife thug who tarnishes the reputation of any institution he belongs too, and any decent human being would turn their back on such an institution, I'm sure we can agree on that can't we?

His family are Catholic. He is from a Catholic part of Liverpool. For many bigots I've met that makes him fair game as a "Fenian". It's illogical and certainly not my rhetoric but I answering your question as to why people might call him a Fenian.

In all honesty, in babbling on about paedophiles, groups of Irishmen who supported home rule, terrorists and political parties and looking to bizarrely link them all together you too are falling into the same sort of ignorant bigotry that I have outlined above. It is incorrect and has no place in this forum or amongst our support base.

If you want to go and spread your filth, ranting on about paedophiles, or terrorists, or organisations that existed hundreds of years ago in such a conspiratorial manner, I strongly urge you to stick to Rangers boards where I imagine you will get a decent hearing. Or alternatively go on an LFC board, the club who refused to pick Catholics, had "Fenians out" graffiti around the club and sang bigoted unionist songs in their Kop end. Again such nonsense would probably get a more favourable hearing.

Be under no illusions though, that on this board, or at our club your nonsense will not go unchallenged. We have a proud history of having a football club that welcomed all sections of the community, religious or otherwise to come and contribute to our club. That includes the numerous Rangers fans on here who engage in the debate productively and don't reduce the discussion to crude and harmful stereotypes.

We are always grateful for fans of other clubs contributing, and it's certainly not my decision but as a poster here I'd strongly urge you knocking on the head discussions of paramilitaries and men engaged in sexual violence against children if you want people to engage with you on here.

Certainly not, i've never done that and neither is going on about huns either

You are right mate. I am a Celtic man really, but have a lot of respect for Rangers too. For me the two fanbases are the closest to our own from a proper football if working class city.

I'm not sure what the guy wants to get from goading Evertonians about events that really should be confined to the history books!

I think both Rangers and Celtic are fantastic clubs. As a kid I preferred Rangers, simply because it was the 90s and Gazza played for them, probably playing in blue helped too. Just like I followed Lazio on channel 4. But after living in Scotland for a few years and visiting about a dozen stadiums, none of them comes close to Celtic Park and it's fans, especially on a European night. Both have their fair share of idiots but they are the minority.

Gerrard might be the kind of guy who punches DJs in nightclubs because they don't play his favourite music. But the kopite media love him. This is a massive appointment in terms of commercial interests. Amid the overhyped media frenzy, it's no surprise that Rangers have just gained over 50,000 followers instantly on social media.

I think it's great for Scottish football overall. They sell their TV rights far too low and in terms of other leagues its way underpriced for the return of viewing figures (which will obviously rise now), and they'll be hoping Gerrard stays until that deal is renewed.

People often talk about the financial disparity between Celtic and Rangers and the rest of the league. But it's more complicated that than. Not only is there are huge financial disparity between Celtic and Rangers. There is a huge financial disparity between Rangers and Aberdeen, and Aberdeen and next place Hibs, and so on.

Aberdeen can afford to pay their players on average double that of clubs outside the "big 5" (Celtic - Rangers - Aberdeen - Hibs - Hearts), and they pay their players 50-60% more on average than Hibs and Hearts. And the Aberdeen coach was Rangers number 1 target, not Gerrard. I'm not surprised he turned them down because he knows he has an advantage over the other clubs in the league bar Rangers and Celtic. All he needs to do is make sure he's better than the rest, and take the odd point off the Old Firm and he could be just as much be in the title race. He has that without the ridiculous pressures of being at Ibrox or Celtic Park.
