RANGERS

£6M will get them less than a quarter of a Klaassen.

Best of luck Stevie Me.

Tbf he’s earned it, he must have put nearly 6 months effort into training a kids team, and he learnt all about the three envelope trick from Brenda, so he’s more than experienced to manage a team that’s only won 54 titles in Scotland.....although I could probably do just as well.....

Personally I think its a great move for him. He'll be given a couple of seasons to build a side (which he wouldn't get in England) and should cement 2nd easily with the addition of a couple of good signings (his connections).

Rangers will benefit from his presence and players will respect him.

Think its a very clever move...if he has the ability to manage.

None of the previous managers have been given that, so I don't see how he will be given it just because he's Steven Gerrard

2nd will never be good enough for Rangers.

And that's what will be his undoing

Rangers fans need to realise that it's going to take a MINIMUM of 2-3 years before they see any fruit bore from this decision

First step is to wrest the title of 2nd best from Aberdeen, before they can even think of challenging Celtic

This needs to be a long term process and Gerrard needs to be given time to get this right

The fate of Warburton, Pedro and Murty suggests he won't be given it, thus the cycle will continue

The Rangers board need to manage their supporters expectations, and the supporters need to accept where they stand in the current hierarchy

Listening to Gerrard's press conference and interviews last week gave me the impression he's not that knowledgable about the game. His comments about "some managers coming in and telling you their philosophy and how their going to use tactics and strategies...I'm not going to do that....I want winning football" sort of underlined what I suspect: he's just an ex-big name player who'll come in and use a 'common sense' approach to the job and believe his sheer determination and will to win will be successfully imparted onto players and it'll be enough to make the difference.

I sense a shallow man with not much to teach anyone in any dressing room at any level. McAllister will be seen to be the problem if it fails to get off the ground first season and that'll buy him time to get shut and stay in a bit longer to see if Celtic go off the boil. Now that is a sensible move, but it's cunning personal politics rather than smart football strategy.

Inappropriate Behaviour
I've been to Ibrox a few times. Reminds me of Goodison Park, but bigger and tidier. And with it's fair share of moaning bastards. The difference though, is that, there is way more of them moaning gits, and they moan their ass off when the team is winning. Makes for a cracking atmosphere mind.

Man Utd fans come with an arrogance of winning 20 league titles, Rangers fans come with an arrogance of winning 54.

They will not expect anything less than 2nd place and rightly so. After-all, they fill their 50,000 seater ground week in week out. So I wouldn't hold my breath with Steven Gerrard being given "time".

Hibs and Aberdeen are no pushovers. With two decent managers. It's certainly not going to be easy. Added to the very thought of Celtic going 10x title wins. He'll need to start winning, and quick.

It will also be interesting to see just how much transfer funds he'll get.
spoken like a true kopite. the old lady is like the garden of eden compared to that shighthole

The thing with him is, he hasn't even done a particularly good job with their under 18's, contrary to the Echo et als attempts to portray it as a success. We hammered them in the 18's derby with a much younger squad.

At first it will be a natural fit. His arrogance seems to matching up nicely with their own arrogance. He will be adept at telling them what they want to hear.
