Personally I think its a great move for him. He'll be given a couple of seasons to build a side (which he wouldn't get in England) and should cement 2nd easily with the addition of a couple of good signings (his connections).

Rangers will benefit from his presence and players will respect him.

Think its a very clever move...if he has the ability to manage.

Why would they respect him exactly, not like every player with a decent pedigree has went on to be a successful manager ?
