RANGERS

I’ve always preferred Rangers over Celtic, purely because I’m not catholic.
I don’t dislike Celtic because they are catholic, I just don’t like them or their image. I view rangers as having an horrible image too.
I’m up in Glasgow for the first time in April. Any tips on places to go/avoid for a good time would be grateful :)

I'm assuming you're a WUM, if you're not and you come up quoting your first your first 2 posts you won't get by your first pint.

I'm Catholic but don't feel any affinity for either, they are definitely some Catholics who support Rangers. For me both clubs are as bad as one another, racial and religious hatred should have no place in sport whatsoever.

I was up in Glasgow a few years ago for a Ricky Burns fight and ended up drinking in was loyalist pub (didn't realise that when we first walked in). Locals asked what we'd come up for and when we said to watch the boxing they said "I hope that Burns dies, the fenian (t-word)." Knocked me ill to be honest.
Not all rangers fans or loyalists are like that mate, theres just a few numpties that you'll find anywhere

I’m not a WUM, and I’m not stupid enough to go to somewhere like Glasgow and start talking Rangers or Celtic, or football in general tbf.

While it's nice to see that our friend from Birmingham, prefers Rangers to Celtic. It's just a shame that his preference for the gers, seems to be for the wrong reasons. The old well they are the protestants, and im not a catholic chestnut. There is a load of other reasons for liking Rangers. The great side they had in the 90's and early noughties.Gazza Laudrup Hateley McCoist and Gough et all. That shirt from the 9 in a row season etc.

I reckon the Celtic shirt for ten in a row will be pretty spectacular.

Sauchiehall st can get quite messy at night, Buchanan st and the lanes running off it have a few good small bars which are a bit more tourist friendly. And if any drunk neds ask which Scottish team you support, the safe answer is Partick Thistle

Sauchiehall St is dead now since the fire at the Art School. Half of it is closed off and businesses have had to close down.
