Potter/Dyche/Moyes were laughed at and the majority didnt want any of them.

The fanbase needs to calm down and let the Rafatollah rebuild the squad. If it goes wrong then he'll get rightfully booted but nows not the time for anarchy in the stands.

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me. We have no Carlo Ancelotti. Yes that one. I dont know if Benitez has what it takes these days but I'm giving him a chance also won't judge him harshly if we finish 10th or a few places lower. Even with the glorious editions of Gray and Townsend. The return of our legend Kababin, though, you might be onto something.

My expectations are top half. We can get there with what we have.

Personally Ild rather we sold all the *quality* players we have like DCL and Richarlison and spend the money on players who have stomach for a fight and turn up each week. That might entail finishing bottom half for a season while it beds in.

We need to re-establish an identity. Leeds did it under Bielsa. We have to be thinking along those radical lines. Hard work and movement. Team work and a fan base committed to the project.

This drift under Moshiri/Koeman/Brands has to stop and professionalism has to return.

Sorry Dave but how does selling our best players help us get better?

Moyes had a damp personality but we all loved him for it.

Martinez was a nice bloke but he was a mentalist who didn't believe in defending.

The only manager I couldn't give an affectionate name to would be Silva as that fella was a piece of work.

He got 10th. Don't keep hiding behind the points. 9 other teams were better than us last season and, if as you say, luck evens itself out, it was a fully deserved 10th. We just managed to make the top half.

It's mot about hiding behind anything though, it is about evaluating performance. There are 2 ways you can do this, league position and overall win/draw/loss record (which is points).

On either metric we were a top half team. In fact no team coming 10th has ever got more points. Our normal finishing position would have been 7th. So while the squad certainly has problems it is really not a bottom 6 squad.

If you're anything like me, you will have lived through an era where we had bottom 6 squads. Most of the 90's and indeed for periods under early Moyes. We simply didn't have international players who represented England, France, Italy, Brazil Columbia etc.

The squad is a bit unbalanced and still lacking in mobility, but it's not an appalling squad.

I can completely get the anger towards Ancelotti (though I don't share it) but it just doesn't make sense to me that he is seen as having done a bad job, then the guy with the same squad is made out to be a miracle worker if he gets less wins and loses more games than him. That doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Yeap I hope they do well they could well do a job. Hopefully gray can prove a point and with all that considered I won't be lasing expectations of Europe on this squad and manager the way it is now.
