Racism in football

Now that there are many more countries in the world I think we could lose a few from competitions. If a country cannot invite another country to play them without racially abusing them then they should be suspended from international competition. Zero tolerance is what is required.

I think I'd let Mendy, as the person it was directed at, decide if he's offended or not. Not sure why the world thinks he needs a mob to do it for him.

Surely if you want to go after somebody in all of this, it should be your Spanish sweety manufacturer.

In the words of Trudy in The Office "Why should it be that only black people should be offended by racism?"

If Mendy is cool with it, it doesn't really matter as it was broadcast to millions of people. It was ill-judged at best and totally ignorant at worst.

That said, I sympathise with Bernardo Silva. People are so eager to throw around the 'racist' term these days that actual racists receive lesser punishments, while celebrities who make fairly innocent faux-pas like this are made out to be villains.

If you put things into perspective, I don't believe anyone truly believes that Bernardo Silva is actually racist. I think the guy made an error of judgement and he'll pay for it, we'll all move on.

If you put it in proportion to the coverage that this case will receive (and the consequence) and the coverage to the Bulgarian chanting or the Cagliari fans, I'd argue that this Bernardo Silva will get it much harsher.

Haringey Borough walked off pitch today in fa cup qualifier against Yeovil.

Their keeper was being spat at and bottles thrown at him as well as being racially abused.
