I understand what you are saying here, and you are quite correct, but, scoring goals is a difficult technique.
It's all about chances to conversion ratios, and as a winger, you wont get that many. So when the opportunity does arrive, there will be certain hesitations and anxieties. Goal scoring is all about confidence and belief, because if an opportunity is missed, there very often will be another one before the game is through if you are the main striker.
Perhaps Del Boy could well benefit from his recent role as front runner. He has confidence. He has pace. He certainly has the ability.
I don't believe he will become first choice striker, but he will certainly have learnt a lot from these games. This will be pleasing not only to him, but also, to Ron as he will know that he will be able to trust Del in certain situations to play up there should a need arise.
That will only be good for the manager, the player, and the team in general.
