They've always been out there. They can find each other and assemble far more effectively now though. Youtube is now the only place where algorithms can get me. My Facebook is defunct, my Twitter is deleted, I don't have any other social media unless you count Whatsapp.

And after initial months of aggressively blocking anything with even a whiff of culture war off it a few years back, I can now proudly say the only recommended vids I get are Warhammer, NFL, Attitude era wrestling and clips of Moneyball and the Matrix.

Youtube is the only social media (outside of message boards like here) i use. There's way more good than bad to it overall imo.

For sure. But you have to actively wean out the bad. I found that as soon as it knows you're a middle aged man, the gauntlet of Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro etc. videos will not go away unless you do something about it.
 
Ads on Youtube remain frustratingly difficult to control. I kept on getting this ad for some money making scam with Elon Musk's dumb AI face on it that would not go away no matter how many times I blocked and reported it. In the end, I wrote a proper message in the report outlining in no uncertain terms what my feelings were on it and it disappeared.

I had months of that idiot matt walsh popping up advertising his grotesque 'documentary'. The daily waire has a bottomless pit of wealth to pump into adverts

It's pretty disgusting how well they're doing in the polls at the moment. As well as the CDU whose new leader is way to the right of Merkel.
