The capacity of Trafalgar Square is about 35k in its modern form (with the old top road pedestrianised), with the roads closed around the sides and at the bottom maybe 20k more.

Compare that to actual 100k demos, like several of the Palestinian ones, where the head of the march is at Trafalgar Square whilst the back of it is still away up Park Lane.
I didn't say they were all in Trafalgar Sq. I said they were a 100,000 army or near enough that descended on central London and the march culminated at Trafalgar Sq.

I saw no contradiction of those figures last weekend btw.

In any case, we can surely agree that it was a massive demonstration of power by the far right and that any Home Secretary that allowed that to go ahead with the consequences we've seen this week should fall on their sword...because I cant believe you'd defend her.

If this lot get anything remotely like a charismatic and articulate orator as leader rather than a thick get from Luton then we're all in trouble.

Years and years of drip feeding that 'immigration is bad', 'it's the fault of immigrants that you have no opportunities', 'they're taking your jobs', 'they're being given your houses' has become a more mainstream way of thinking. The type of person who believed that years ago is now told 'they're raping your kids'.

It really saddens me how it's a pretty commonplace view to think immigration is out of control to the point where the Labour Party had to make it one of their main election points just to appeal to the masses. They're right - it does not talking about about - because as a country we refuse to to acknowledge or discuss the benefits of immigration.

Ultimately, this just increases division on our communities and has been used as a tool to divide us (remember when it was the benefit scrounger's fault?) for decades.

Our political class and in particular recent government have allowed far right to write It's narrative. Been said before the foundations of all this is the economic circumstances finds themselves in, factor in lack of broken infrastructure and cost of living. It's the perfect space for the likes of Farage Tice and Yaxely -Lennon to peddle and exploit.
