Tbf to them they can't win.

They react to being jumped at Manchester airport and a female colleague getting pulverised and some are pushing for those involved to be sacked, and charged.

As much as many of us would like to see them teach these scruffs a lesson they'll know that some would jump on it if they did.
I genuinely don't understand why it's not okay to smash nazis/fascists in the head. I've always been a pacifist, but I've thought to myself that I would make an exception and be proud to fight nazis. Cognitive dissonance, i know, but that's where I am.

I reckon to have an effective police force they needs scruffs to respect them. I think many share your view that lessons should be given to those involved.

The police have completely lost control.
The similarity of passive responses and approach in different cities, suggests that it is how they have been trained and prepared to act in these circumstances.

As others have said, I don’t understand how there can be a very different chapter in the training manual for football matches.

I appreciate that police numbers may be down from what it should be, but surely get stuck in and gain the upper hand, is better than standing back and enabling escalation.

The majority of those joining in aren’t hard core, committed political protestors, they’re opportunistic half-wits. They wouldn’t be there if they knew that bruises and jail were a likely outcome.
