Depends where he wanted to run to and what the options were. As I say he didn't seem too concerned about getting out of there - he wanted a piece of those thugs.

We can't really say what was the best option. We weren't there, we don't know the lay of the land in that moment and can't make calls based on footage of things that the majority of the coppers there in that moment had not seen.

You feel the one big way to quash the disorder is for the majority to mobilise and come out and out number these racists and show them what we feel about them.

Hopefully in Liverpool this will happen next time. I think a lot of people just assumed the far right were outnumbered massively but now it looks like their numbers have swelled. Worrying to see.

The only slither of hope is that a LOT of people in the footage we've seen are hanging around filming, rubbernecking and just watching the bedlam. Another sizeable portion are just opportunistic toerags taking the opportunity to smash stuff up and launch bricks at police in the belief it's something of a free pass.

Definitely a worry though to see how many people are willing to be directly involved in overtly fascistic thuggery though.
