Parslow told the jury he travelled to the hotel on 2 April to stab "one of the Channel migrants" because he was "angry and frustrated".

As always in these situations, whilst this guy will rightfully get a jail term, the social commentators and elected politicians who continue to dehumanise and scapegoat vulnerable people will carry on without any remorse or accountability.

Absolute scumbag.
Hitler tattoos and everything.
And yet free thinkers will paint him as a victim

Exactly. Casting aspersions on vulnerable people before even considering how they can be helped and they’re nowhere to be seen when the [Poor language removed] hits the fan.
Spoke to half a dozen young asylum seekers today (I won't post a picture as they're not looking miserable enough), and they just have aspirations like everyone. Engineers, nurses, architects etc.

This portrayal of them as evil people here to cause us harm is so far from the mark.

Very much so, the rules on Asylum means most Asylum seekers can't work or volunteer unless they have granted permission. Really puts most individuals in difficult situations, that's without consideration of being detained.

I have a friend who is in a difficult spot at the moment. And given his circumstances considered asylum before deciding another visa route as a temporary measure. It is still a slim possibility but hopefully it won't come to that.

I've seen both sides mate, yup the majority are just wanting to create a better life, but there is also an element that should never be allowed in, and that's from someone who worked for the nationality directorate and was seconded to Asylum for 12 months in the past.

The vetting system and the burden of proof is a badly flawed system, Asylum should NEVER be a matter of politics but a fundamental part of British law, instead government priorities constantly change the criteria.

You mean to say that people that aren't British are people, just like us? With flaws and mental health challenges? One of the lads yesterday even supported the rs.

To illustrate this mate, a very personal story of two cases I came across whilst working for them, one was a girl - about 19-20 who in her home country in Africa had been kidnapped and raped, tortured over a period of 3-4 weeks by a high ranking military officer. Her case was actually refused based upon lack of provable evidence, the girl didn't even hsve a single piece of documentation as she fled - even though everything she said was blatantly true given the absolute detail she recalled - which you couldn't fabricate.

Meanwhile the officer named was also applying for political asylum - there's been a coup and he claimed he would be persecuted and killed if he returned, he had all correct documentation and sailed through the asylum procedure, in large part due to a certain letter of recommendation by a Brit working for the foreign office who's been stationed in the country saying he had been a trusted friend of the UK foreign office.

The system at that point killed my soul as realised just how broken it had become

I'm not sure there are even words.
