Once all this dies down,as it will, we're left with the problem of what to do with the poorly educated, partly criminalised under employed people who form the "underclass" - a term I dislike but use in the absence of another.

I've read on here that they're 'sewer rats' and 'sub human'. I suggest that they're human and part of a tradition of people who've existed since way back when. Bread and circuses worked to a point for the Romans and useful as cannon fodder thousands of years, we don't currently have an approach which touches the people who have little or no stake in the progression of society.

Punish those guilty of organising / taking part in these disgraceful events.

And then ... ?

Hopefuly there are people with vision to begin dealing with the problem or, as sure as eggs are eggs, it will eventually come back stronger and even better organised.
The problems exist in all communities so it's not just the white Brits that will need addressing, it is across the board. The extremes of one group, speaking or acting triggers the extremes of another. It's in these areas that propaganda is used by multiple actors.

It'll take a herculean effort, working with community leaders, and communities but the powers that be need to get a serious grip on the comms channels that are used to spread hate.

Call it what it is, a clsss war.

Got myself off X/Twitter. There’s something really dodgy about the algorithms.

Saw this mentioned a few times now

To be fair to Musk - he made their algorithm open source.

So people can see how their algorithm works.

That wasn't the case before, and it certainly isn't the case with Meta.

If I had my way - algorithms would be banned and social feeds would only be allowed to be chronological.

Someone revealed the code of certain people who have free reign on what they can say. The list was truly miserable and a reason I've got rid of my account.

Education and regional investment are pathways out of poverty.

This is a lost generation. Schools wasting time teaching worthless grammar that my generation don’t even know. It means nothing, disenfrachises them from education. The purpose of education is that is should enable good citizens that can contribute positively to society. In some areas schools are holding cells.

the current national curriculum creates failures early on.
As a teacher I couldn't agree more.

That someone was Elon Musk as it was him who made their algorithm open source.

Yes, his posts on there get more visibility than someone else's - but then, that's algorithms. If you're horrified by that bias, then social media isn't for you. Forums for the win.

On a similar subject, I found this article interesting around free will/bias;

“This is going to sound a little bit crazy, but I think the free speech debate is a complete distraction right now. I think the real debate should be about free will,” he said in Norway’s capital of Oslo, home of the Nobel Peace Prize.

“We are being programmed. We are being programmed based on what we say we’re interested in, and we’re told through these discovery mechanisms what is interesting—and as we engage and interact with this content, the algorithm continues to build more and more of this bias.”

The media will always fan the flames as it gives them something to write about. Bit like Tomorrow Never Dies they are rubbing their hands together now in glee. They're probably just confused it took so long to kick off.

Even 'educated' people fall for it.

Hence the outrage when Zarah Sultana suggested they bore some of the blame for this.

Said before...just search and look for things not related to what's happening and your timeline changes pretty quickly.

Feed the beast and it'll keep coming back

"Free speech" doesn't exist on a privately owned platform where rules are dictated by whom owns it.

So people can't bitch and moan when they're taken off, demonetised etc

But there is accountability and repercussions to what you say.

Money, Musk is only interested in making his money back. Time for Politics and News media to come off as well.
