I get it mate, it's all about not being last, not being the worst at something. Feck being good, pursuing excellence and fighting regression, just make sure one's not the bottom of the pile so we can look down on something.
I think having to look to North Korea for a country to favourably compare yourself to is a giant slip in standards imo

This is straight out of the 1930's playbook. Obviously felt the winds of change happening in Belarus and thought he'd stamp that one out before it even starts. Sorry to say but the Russian people should hang their heads in shame for allowing this to happen. Having a leader cling on to power does not improve quality of life, you need constant renewal to get new ideas and the genuine will to help people.
